Saved me from replacing my CRAFTSMAN trimmer
RJ Spreckelsen•August 12, 2017
The string on my 30HP CRAFTSMAN trimmer slipped, so I could no longer start it. I really didn't want to spend another couple hundred dollars on a new one. So I took a chance on this $10 piece and wow, I sure am glad I did. Again, I used this on a CRAFTSMAN, not on a Troy-Bilt, but it worked perfectly. Started right up, way easier than pull starting. And now, to my surprise, the string re-engaged, so I can pull start it again. But seeing how easy it starts with this drill bit, I'll stick with it.
saved my trimmer!

I was ready to buy a battery operated trimmer as I was about to give up. the 4 cycle troy bilt trimmer has been a REAL PAIN to start. The trimmer is not event that old but starting seemed to be better the warmer the trimmer was. Well, onto the product review. . I put this into my 18v porter cable and switched to speed 2 because 1 did not spin it fast enough. It did not start immediately but I primed again and spun it for a little bit and realized it was running. You would not believe how many times before I put this trimmer back in the shed or left it in the sun to warm up. This little device is amazing Heck, even if you added the price of a cheap harbor frieght drill for $19 it would still be worth it. The trimmer runs great once it is started. Nice a quiet, plenty of power for what I do. This device just saved me from buying a new trimmer!!! Thanks Troy-bilt for creating this over the added original jump start which I refused to buy.

I would give this a negative star if I could. I will never buy troy built again. Firstly, after a year my weed whacker pull start broke because of a plastic piece. Secondly, I found a loopole, electric start with this chuck. At first fired up nicely, second time I tried to fire it up the chuck broke. It sits in a ball bearing and I take it the ball bearing has a tiny snag as not to ruin the starter when it fires up. Well the snag must have broke and now the chuck just spins. Meanwhile in one year, 200 dollars on a weed whacked that broke and now 10 dollars on something that worked once. Save your money and get a reliable brand!

The Starter itself worked fine. I just found out that I can walk into my local "Lowe's" and pick one off the shelf cheaper. That was my only reason for giving it 3 stars.
Great little arm saver.

Quite the arm saver. Gas powered equipment is so hard to start you almost pull your arm out of socket trying to start them. Just put this little gem in your drill and save your arm.
