Nice material but too limp. Yes, things may fall out of the side pocket. Sent it back.

Seems to be well made. Not as nice as the last leather one I had, but very nice. Canvas seems durable and time will tell. I gave only 4 stars because the thin outer pocket has no zipper. I prefer to keep thin items like band aids, comb, etc. but they will fall out if not carefully packed in a suitcase. Very pliable and can handle a number of items.
