XL or Size 10?

The coat is described as "Escalier Women's Winter Trench Thicken Long Wood Coat Jacket With Belt Black XL" but offers different sizes. I ordered Size 10 for my wife - coat arrived and was far too large. My question is - does XL stand for extra large or extra long, and, if it does stand for extra large, why give the option to order Size 10? Coat itself is beautiful but will be returned because the coat is much larger than a regular Size 10.

This coat is amazingly beautiful. I ordered the 2XL and I wear a size 12. It fits perfectly. Watch the measurements and knife the asterisk at the end that they measured it flat, which makes a huge difference. Being 5'4," the length is well below my knees. The sleeves are to mid hand, and with leather gloves and boots, is stunning. It's very warm, but not heavy. The fox collar is lush and long in front. Best purchase I've made in a log time. This coat won't disappoint!
