These Dice Are Metal AF!
JDPaladin✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 19, 2023
This purchase was a tough decision for me. On the one hand, I own SOOO many Chessex dice another set seemed unnecessary. On the other, metal dice are weightier and cooler looking. Plus, these are from Paladin Roleplaying, and my YouTube channel's name is JD Paladin.

In the end, the pros beat the cons, and I splurged, and they arrived today. So, without further ado, here we go:

When it arrived, the tim had a small, barely noticeable dent. Rather than being in a super-obvious place, it was in the top left corner of the lid, and counts as more of a depression, really. Upon opening the lid, I found the lid's protective rubber piece had settled into the lower tin and, not having even medium length fingernails, required a thin, flat object to pry out. A nuisance, to be sure, but not aggravating.

Them, the dice themselves were revealed. Mein Gott, were they beautiful. The metal sheen, the etched numbers with black enameling... a joy to behold. From a display standpoint, they should display with their highest numerical values on top, as if to show off the great rolls you are going to enjoy with tgem. Sadly, they weren't all displayed this way.

Then I get to the d6. 5/6 sides were flawless. But tge 1 side, in the right light, seems as if it has seen some use. But, like the d10's, the smoothed-over edges make for ease of rolling.

The heft on these dice is noticeable. My estimation is these dice weigh at least 6x the weight of a standard Chessex die. This means with what sharp corners and points there are, if you roll on an unprotected wood surface, you're going to mark the table. Lucky for me, I use fame mats and dice trays anyway, so that worry is moot for me.

And finally, the size. While the other dice work with aplomb in a Meeple knockdown dice tower, the d20 does not. This is due to the size of the die being a slightly larger gague than the Chessex d20's. But it rolls well under other circumstances, and hasn't yet seemed to have any negative feel to it.

Small nitpicking aside, these dice are amazing. As a Paladin myself, I can honestly say thatthese dice more than show they are worth the cost alone. They look great, feel great, AND give you a grand weapon when the dice start flying at the table. Plus, as a Paladin, they're on brand, which is important to me. As Tycho Brahe always says, "Always be branding!"
Not perfect

The edges aren't perfect or completely uniform. There are some slight rippling and dings in the finish. I've not had them long but the finish doesn't seem like it will chip. I have dropped one once on a concrete floor and it survived. The d6 is abnormally undersized and the d20 seems slightly over sized. I actually like the larger d20. Having a smaller d6 is worth getting the larger d20. The metal tin they arrived in came with some slight dings in it. It seems the dice got loose from the foam insert during shipping and dented the tin. Being solid metal they do have a nice weight to them but as a result roll less than a lighter die would.
My new favorites!

I've been wanting to get a set of metallic dice for a while now, and I am extremely happy that I went with these. They are a very solid set of dice, easy to read, and the dice goblin in me thoroughly enjoys the clacking they make. You'll see from the picture that I sprung for the additional d6's that are available from Paladin Roleplaying as well.

There's a much better review that gives exact dimensions and weights, but I will say that any differences in dimensions are minimal and the weight of them more than makes up for it.

My one potential complaint would have been that there's no way to get additional dice besides the d6's, but then I discovered their website. If you need a couple extra d4's and d10's, you can just head over there.
Immaculate dice, with excellent customer service.

My first set came in with a few scuffs, I informed Neil, the cofounder of Paladin Roleplayong of my issue, so he sent me another set. Neil's customer service alone is worth five stars, he was polite and punctual.
I received my second set, and they are beautiful, just rolling them in my hands is a rewarding experience. Tossing them feels even better. These are the Cadillac of dice. They are built like a tank, yet ooze with high quality. They are visually appealing.
When I first used them, I could not put the D20 down, my group kept calling me Gollum, guarding my precious.

The conclusion:
These dice are perfect, for the price they are worth it, any table-top enthusiast deserves a set. 3-4 sets of plastic dice will cost just as much as this one set, but this set is leagues ahead of typical plastic dice, as far as quality is concerned. These will last for years, and could be passed down for generations.

I was looking for a set of dice to use when I am not DM'ing for my friends. I had considered metal dice in the past and I came across Paladin Roleplaying. I usually look at more than the consumer ratings for a product as personal preference and taste cannot always be quantified in 1-5 stars. In my case, I have had a 5-star experience. I have been in contact with the Co-Founder, Neil Jackson, since I started the purchase process. He has been a very gracious "host." The feeling of the dice in my hands is quite a pleasing feel. The heft and texture of the nickel plating just makes you want to hold them even when you are not rolling them. The color looks closer to a pewter, but that adds to the nostalgia of my first miniatures when I play AD&D. I would totally recommend this product to my friends. I look forward to using these with at organized events!
