This review is for the BB Mall bamboo handle makeup brush set. I have attached an image collage of some bamboo brushes I have (3 images of BB Mall brushes and one of the Everyday Minerals bamboo brushes) because I wanted to make some comments towards the end about how these compare to brushes that sell for $10+ a piece.

PROs: Brushes are sturdy, dense, and soft. Face brushes are lush and apply well. CONs: Brushes have a very strong lacquer smell out of the bag. Eye brush bristles could be improved.

I bought these brushes because they do not use animal hair and are designed with bamboo handles. I wanted face brushes from Everyday Minerals, but they are a bit pricey, so I went with the BB Mall set instead because they appeared to be dupes. I was surprised at how dense and soft they were, and they applied my mineral loose powder foundation nicely without leaving any flakiness. I was a little disappointed by the eye brushes because the bristles were not as precise. Some are too frayed or not dense together where they need to be, especially for the eye lining brushes. The sponge is poor quality and is better off not in this set. I reduced a star because of the eye brushes.

Later on I received some EM brushes, so I was able to compare the quality. The EM brushes are also synthetic, but they feel silkier and do not have that initial chemical odor. When I compared the BB Mall flat top that is two or three times the size of the EM mini flat top, I noticed that the little EM one is denser per square centimeter. The tips of the EM eye brushes are also very tight and precise so that you get very controlled lines. In general, the EM brushes are more superior. Sometimes everydayminerals.com has specials where you can get the brushes free or for a discount with purchase, so it's worth checking out.

Despite that, I am satisfied with the BB Mall brushes because of its value and general quality. It's not EM quality, but it's a good substitute. Overall, I recommend the brushes for the face, but the eye brushes leave more to be desired. For the price, this is still an excellent deal.

The quality of this brush set is great. The brushes don't shed, and they apply makeup evenly. I live the face brushes. The cons I see are that the only eye brushes that are practical are the packing brushes (6 and 7) and the angled brush (11). The others are too flimsy for any real use. The set is sorely missing eye blending brushes, good detailing brushes, and a highlighting brush, but this only matters if that is what you are looking for.

The price is great, even for just the usable brushes. I used this as my starting set and supplemented with Elf brushes since they are very inexpensive and great quality (their highlighting brush is especially great!).

Very very nice. The brushes are soft and not tough on the face. They do not shed, I have washed them two times and I do not see any of the hairs fall out. My face is a bit sensitive and I did not react to it or had any problems with these brushes. I do not use the sponge because it's too hard, but I mean you could try and use it if you want. I really like these brushes because the worked really nicely, I have used all the brushes and they have not let me down. It does not have names of the brushes on the wooden part, so if you are new to makeup I wouldn't really suggest these ones. The barrel is very secure onto the handle do they do not seem cheaply made. Really really liked these because the were very soft and exceeded my expectations. I would but this again in the future.

These are AWESOME brushes!!! I can't say enough good things about them. I wasnt quite sure what I was going to get when I ordered these so I took a shot in the dark, and let me tell you I'm so glad I did. I have since led numerous people to them, well really they sell themselves as soon as people see/hold them. The handles are nice and thick, the brushes are SUPER soft, I love the way they apply product, and they have stayed just like they are brand new through so many cleanings. I know they each have their own use, and they are great for what they are intended, but I loved the large brushes so much for liquid foundation I pretty much use all of them for such. I keep one in the car, one in my purse, one in my travel makeup bag, and one in my bathroom drawer with my makeup. If you are looking for good makeup brushes without paying an arm and a leg...get these!!! You won't regret it.

These were $6.99 when I purchased them. The price seems to fluctuate depending on demand. Honestly, I bought this set for three or four of the face brushes (slanted, flat slanted, domed, and flat). I will use them for liquid foundation and won't use the others because they just don't suit my needs. The brushes that I WILL use are good quality and are exactly what I wanted and was expecting. They are super soft and dense, but not so dense that I have any problems washing and rinsing the cleaner out of them easily. I have washed them twice with no shedding. Most of the other brushes I own have black handles, but I kind of like the natural wood. The handles are finished well and feel good in my hand. I don't expect them to last as long as the really expensive brushes, but you can't beat the quality for the price I paid! If the price comes back down, I will purchase at least one more set of these. If I could purchase the set without the "eye" brushes for the same price, I would.
