The pad is smaller than I expected. That said, it stays in place which is the important thing. The leather is high quality and supple, not stiff. The leather is a bit thick to fit Gretsch strap pins but I anticipate the fit will improve with use.

My wife used to manufacture leather handbags and gave the leather a big thumbs up, especially for the backing. Some straps use suede on the back, which is cheaper, but not as durable. Part of me wishes for a little more padding in the pad, but I assume, like a baseball glove, it will conform to my shoulder and soften over time - just another reason to pick up the guitar!

The thickness, softness, and surface feel of the leather is just right. The design and construction is perfect for its intended purpose. The color complements my guitar. The buckle has a solid look and feel. It's just a super-dope part of my kit. It's not my first Franklin strap, and likely not my last. I really enjoy their products. The only quibble I have is that this particular model could be about four inches longer to accommodate guitars with a heal-mounted strap button and taller folks. I'm 5'6" and like the strumming area of the electric guitar just below my belt, so not "low slung" but not a hat either, and this strap lets my '64 Melody Maker hang just shy of the mark when fully extended, but still comfortable.
