Bright, with the right stuff

This is a very bright light. We have 4 different import DMX par lights and this is definitely the brightest in the bunch. We wanted to try out a light that had RGB LEDs rather than a variety of colors on the face, what a difference. The color output is much cleaner than the discrete LED type par. There is negligible stray color leakage that occurs on other lights due to discrete colors on the face. The control works well as does sound activation. The colors are good and with the solid brightness a 12x12 floor or wall area can be saturated with just two of these. Worked in a group I think these would make a great addition to any DJ rig.
The light has all of the expected connections, DMX in and out standard IEC power in and out (thanks for that). A clear display for manual setup and setting the DMX range. Overall the light has a good feel.
We had a hiccup with the first one and the central lens was loose in the frame. I contacted the vendor and they got us a replacement right away.
I give four stars because I am unsure of the long term durability. I will update my review after a little time has passed and I have better perspective on reliability.
I also have not tried to video the LEDs to see if they flash but that is not my typical application.
Overall, I will probably choose this par for most future applications. It just seems like a better light.
A fairly good fixture for beginning, or budget minded solo performers.

If you're a performer operating on a tight budget, and need a short range spot, that's just wide enough to illuminate one musician from about 6, or 8 feet away, this will work for you. If you need to illuminate a wider area, just position the fixture further away.

I like that the fixture has a 40 degree beam angle. It's bright enough to get the job done, nicely.

The fixture is easy to operate, and it didn't take long at all to find the white setting. Just a few presses of the mode button. F000 is the mode that gives a steady, white spotlight.

The fixture comes with a scissor yoke, but the metal is fairly thin, and flimsy for my preferences. However, they do work, either in up lighting, or in truss hanger mode. When closed, and an o-clamp is used, the two yokes combine forces to make for a more durable yoke.

Connecting the yokes to the fixture was easy. Just be sure to put the plastic washer between the fixture, and the yoke, and it'll tighten up nicely.

My main gripe for this fixture is the NOISE which comes from the fan. I'm guessing it's there, because of the type of LEDs in use. The fixture does blow out a fair amount of warm air. Because of the fan, you definitely WON'T be using this outdoors, AT ALL, unless you know it's not going to rain, during your gig.

Were it not for the fact this fixture seems to be the only one with a 40 degree angle beam out there, and time constraints, I'd send it back, but for the price, it'll hold me over till I can get a quieter fixture with the same beam angle.

The housing of the fixture is plastic, but it seems rugged enough for occasional gigging.

The colours appear vibrant, and bright. From about 12 feet away, the beam was able to fill up an entire 8 foot wide movie screen, no problem.

These fixtures can be used as up lighting, but I would not recommend more than a couple of these, due to the fan noise. I can only imagine what a dozen of these would sound like, lining the walls with up lighting. LOL. Think slide projector, in terms of noise.

If you ran several of these on a truss, pointing toward the backs of the musicians, these could also be good shoulder lighting. Also would look nice from out in the house. Oh, but there's all that fan noise. Can't have that. LOL.

To be fair, if your a good 8 feet away, you don't hear the noise, all that much. When performing, you'll likely not even notice it, as long as there aren't too many of these fixtures parked too close to you, or the microphone, or the audience.
Good quality wash lights

Works well for wall wash application, but not for stage lighting. While I was impressed they came with instructions, the instructions did not include the settings and the color that the manuals setting would provide. It is a guessing game - and I'm not into that too much. Good housing, nice hardware with the unit - a larger knurled knob to tighten the light to the bracket would be nice - would allow for tool free repositioning. Will I keep them? YES. I'll just be using them for curtain wash applications.
Awesome lights/great price

These are great lights for the cost. Currently have 17 in use for our theater. We built pyramids for a theater production. We have 5 lights filling the pyramid shape. Been a great effect with huge applause for just the lighting.

Con
Limited instruction for DMX but this is only a limitation for a new user.
Plastic housing so keep safe distance from other stage lights or traditional hot bulbs.
Great light for small events

Great little light for the price. Do not expect to use it for large theater productions but it works as expected for the price. The light produces a halo on the floor/wall or whatever you are shining it on. This halo comes from the fact that each LED is a separate color and when mixed to create other colors you can see individual rings on the surface. For example Purple makes a blue/red/blue/red/blue/red ring.

We used these lights for a kids theater production to down-wash the actors as they stood in darkness. Was a great effect and simple to integrate into our DMX system.
