These are way better than the classic splices that experienced automotive and hobbyist electricians are accustomed to. However, be absolutely certain that you get the right ones for the gauge of wire you'll be splicing -- if the wires are too big, you can't just force these closed without ruining them.

I had been looking for some IDC Type splicing connectors to install Load Resistors on some LED turn signal lights I purchased. I looked at 3M splice connectors and they looked up to the task, however I would have had to buy a box of 100pcs and the cost per connector was almost double even in 100 qty. The resistors are necessary to prevent hyper-flash (rapid blinking), a common issue due to the lower power consumption of LEDs vs. the stock incandescent bulbs. These connectors saved me having to cut, strip and solder the factory wires to splice the "old school" way. If you need a clean method indistinguishable from a professionally ($$$) done install, I highly recommend these splice connectors. I ordered these for an LED lighting project in my travel trailer. My goal was a clean professional install of an exterior porch light and lighting for the pantry. With these connectors and 20 ga wiring specifically for LED wiring I was able to accomplish this. The connectors work well. They are small so no bulk. and are easy to hide. You have to be careful to follow the guide that is imprinted on each. Also a pair of pliers are good to use to close them. These work well with low voltage applications with small wire. But heavier gauge wire would be too bulky for the connectors.
