BIG disappointment

Couldn't wait to get this! I have been making a smoothie every morning to take with me in the car on the way to the office. Smoothie ingredients are: frozen strawberries, frozen banana, 1 scoop protein powder and almond milk. I was actually surprised that everything fit well into the tall cup but the blending process was awful. It took me 10 minutes to get it to blend into smoothie form. I was hoping for the convenience of single container to make and drink but my blender is so much better than this. Maybe the more expensive version is better? I have a Ninja blender....maybe it's just extra good??

I purchased a Magic Bullet Express on August 26, 2014. The Bullet worked great the first 10 or so times I used it, then the plastic portion of the blade began to break apart. Even though it says the pieces are dishwasher safe, I only hand washed them because I was afraid of something like this happening. I did e-mail the manufacturer and was told I needed to send in my receipt. Unfortunately, I lost the e-mail and just figured I would use one of the other blades I received with the unit. Unfortunately the same thing happened to the other blades and now there is a white powder all over the base of the machine. When I called the manufacturer, they told me that the gear in the motor is bad and they will replace it as long as I pay the shipping. I was advised that shipping would be about $17.00, which seems pretty high. At this point, probably will just give up on the bullet. Too many other products out there!!

This device works well for everything EXCEPT chopping. I picked it because in addition to all the traditional things it purported to do, it also said with a particular blade it could chop vegetables. The "pulse" method described in the manual and on videos, does not work to chop. It still results in a pureed mess of vegetable, but with the added bonus of large chucks left behind. For all other purposes the Bullet is awesome. I especially like the plastic rims that can be added so that one can drink directly from the cups. I make a protein shake in the morning and drink it during my morning commute. No mess, no fuss, just throw it in the dishwasher when I get home. All-in-all I give it a 3 out of 5, only because I was really looking forward to not having to chop onions and celery ever again.

so far it works great. we love this. use it once or twice a week and make amazing smoothies and other things. working on some new recipes involving this so will have a better update in the future. for now though this is amazing. we love it. works as advertised and all the parts that came with it seem pretty solid. one thing i can recommend everyone buying this to remember. DO NOT LET THIS RUN FOR MORE THAN 60 SECONDS STRAIGHT as you can burn the motor out. you can stop it and then immediately let it run again but they warn you of this in the manual and when you approach a minute of straight use you can almost smell that it doesn't want to do much more. so as long as you follow this rule to the T you will have this product for years to come. many of my friends had theirs 7-9 years already.

Update 3/9/15: A lot less happy. I just got into using this in the last month, I'd used it a couple of times after getting it in October, but couldn't sustain interest. But, now I'm blending an orange juice, banana, strawberry smoothie daily. Unfortunately, something went wrong with the blender. It grabbed the rubber teeth that go down into it and ripped them off so it doesn't spin. I tried a couple of different blades thinking maybe something wrong with the first, but that wasn't it.
I'm trying to reach customer service but haven't had any luck about getting this replaced along with the 2 blades that are now ruined. I'm pretty disappointed in the customer service for this.
