They are wax coated to they light easily and they are long enough to fill a large jar or whatever. You could trim them to fit a smaller one.

worked well, we ended up trimming quite a bit off since we used teacups and pint jars

These wicks were very cheap....i will not be buying again. the wax coating melts off as soon as you pour the candle wax in and then it is hard to get it to stay straight......do not recommend.

These are super cheap for the number of wicks but I've had to use several sometimes for one candle because the wicks keep getting pulled out of the metal tabs. I like wooden wicks better but for gifts, people seem to be more familiar with wicks like these
