These filters are great. They really do make a difference in taking the way the bitterness in coffee. I love all things Chemex!

Man oh man. Slow drip coffee is very tasty and this product is critical in making it.
I use these squate sheets with a Chemex device to brew coffee and am very satisfied with the results.
I think doing the Chemex without the paper would be bad because then all of the grounds would be with the water. That would create an unpleasant texture and maybe upset you tummy.

Used these for years and always get compliments on the coffee. Just be sure and run hot water through it first to wash out the paper taste. Doing this also heats up the coffee maker, which helps since Chemex doesn't have any mechanism to maintain temperature.
I really love this coffee maker but

I really love this coffee maker but, like others have noted, you have to be careful. I tapped it (or at least what I thought was a light tap) on the corner of my sink and broke a chunk off the top - where the filter sits. SO disappointed. I guess I'll order another one, but am hesitating.
Fake filters?

I have a strong suspicion that the box of filters we received are imposters. This is based on several things. First, I noticed the box didn't have the usual clear circular seal sticker. All other boxes we've gotten of these has been well packaged. I immediately thought that was strange. Essentially the box could just be opened willy-nilly without anyone knowing it had been tampered with. Second, the leaf-edge was facing the opening of the box, rather than the normal folded edge. I've always liked that Chemex seems to provide quality products with classy presentation, so this was a red flag. It looked like a box of newsprint. I actually took the filters out and rotated them to see if they somehow were mis-packaged, but they don't fit in the box with the folded edge facing out. Finally, when I took the filter out to actually use it, sure as enough, they are about half the thickness. The water shot right through, leaving a much weaker cup of coffee since it didn't brew as long.
It feels mildly absurd to be writing this whole detailed description of my suscpicions, but seriously - who does that? How is this even a thing?
I'm not going to return them since that seems extremely wasteful, but I'll be expecting my next box to be the normal quality.
