fits good, I am 5'6"
jon clemons✓ Verified Purchase•January 29, 2018
fits good, I am 5'6". Will also fit if you are taller. I fold down the top seem. It may have been made for that because it fits great. Gives piece of mind. Don't tell my wife that a week before I bought these I cut through my levis at the kneecap two days in a row. 2nd time had a little blood, but I was lucky for my carelessness. After many years of using a chainsaw, it can happen. **** get them before you get careless and make a mistake****

Saved my life while in PuertoRico for disaster relief. Worth getting. You can never predict an accident thats why they are called accidents.must have is you own a saw.see my photo of when the chaps got eaten by the saw. Could have been a massive gash. Remember once they are cut u throw them away and buy another pair. Its well worth it.even tho these are cheaper quality they still did there job.
Fit me (6'2") like a glove. Take the time to adjust the fastening straps properly (10 minutes or less). It will pay off.

I read many reviews before deciding to purchase these, including some that complained about a poor fit, discomfort in wearing, etc. As I use a chainsaw only occasionally, I decided to go for a moderately priced pair of chaps rather than those in the $70 - $100 range. although occasional use might be the best argument to get the best quality.
Any true review of this product could only be made after an incident and the chaps perform as advertised. I can't offer that insight, as so far my chainsaw and chaps haven't made contact. That said, I found none of the complaints about fit or comfort to be valid. The one waist and four leg closure straps (two for each leg) adjust easily and stay where I put them, at least for the first few hours of use. I would describe the fit as perfect, but it did take a bit of trial and error to get there. I thought moving in them would be at least a little awkward, but if there is any restriction of movement, I didn't notice it.
For the sake of reference, I'm 6'2", and the chaps covered my shoe tops. Anyone under 6' might find them too long. I'm not sure if there is a smaller size or an easy adjustment of these for a shorter user.
I came to understand before I bought these that they are a one incident product. If your saw and your chaps do make contact, your chaps will be ruined. At first I thought that it was silly to pay this much for a product that could be ruined so readily, but I then realized that the contact that ruined the chaps would have done far more painful and costly damage to my leg.
The moral of this story is these chaps are like insurance. You buy it but hope never to need it. However, when the time comes and you do need it, you forget all about what you've paid for it. If you are on the fence about buying chaps or not, be smart and get a pair.

OK quality. Better than nothing.

Like others have pointed out - the quilting stops about 2/3 up your thigh, so the "goods" are not protected at all (unless you consider the canvas protection). I kept them, because they are definitely better than nothing (and it looks from the pictures that other chaps are similar). I am 32" length pants, and if worn at the waist, these do not touch the tops of my shoes - longer would have been better. Chainsaw chaps I have worn in the past overlapped onto the top of my shoe (I assumed for protection, but maybe those were just too big).
Again, way better than nothing. I got them because my son has started doing most of the cutting; and while I can justify being cheap and stupid for myself, I can't see not spending $40 for some added safety for my son.

Get Safe - Buy Some Chaps

Every since I cut three fingers halfway through in my tablesaw, I have become more safety conscious and respect spinning blades and chains with sharp teeth. I have operated a chainsaw for years with only googles and ear muffs but this wood season decided to get decked out in all the safety gear. Bought these chaps as well as chainsaw boots, helmet with shield, and Kevlar gloves. The chaps are a bit heavy, but that's to be expected. I purchase some Dickies industrial strength suspenders to hold them up. All of the straps work well and are easy to put on.
