My kids can't stop playing with these. We are very pleased with these bells.

These are wonderful. We bought them for the birthday of the son of very dear friends. They are sturdy - it would take hard work to break one - so they are safe! They are in vibrant primary colors and are light to hold, so easy to handle for little hands. The tone of each bell is bright and clear - clear as a bell, one might say! It is clever that there are eight, an octave, so the set is ideal for children playing together - even siblings and families.

The accompanying booklet is wise about the benefits of music in early child development. It is also good for children to learn to play together, right? And what better way than playing in a band? The booklet has a section - "How to teach children music with Hand Bells" - and lists the separate, simple steps, for a parent or teacher to take to get the child to the stage of singing and playing together, and then, maybe, before an "audience.

The booklet with it includes a small number of tunes - e.g. Ode To Joy and Row Your Boat - and intelligently blends the traditional music notation with the color of the bells. In summary - a clever, attractive set, that will last for years and bring children together, as well as supporting the creative development of the individual child. Only one, very minor, gripe - we wished that the set of tunes was larger - but any teacher or musically savvy parent will be able to create more following the way the tunes are laid out here.

I love the tone of these bells. I would have given this a 5 start rating, but the enclosed songbook ( which was the reason I chose these bells rather than another similar set) is a piece of paper with a couple songs on it. That was disappointing. The bells themselves are very well made and ring quite nicely.

I gave this as a gift to a child. THe bells have a nice sound quality.
