Lifesaver
VJ✓ Verified Purchase•August 30, 2023
I'll try to make this review short, but I have a bit of info that may help a variety of people. I'm 5'2, 100lb female age 49. I'm quite handy, but no longer have the strength of my 20's. I recently purchased a Werner 24ft, Type lll (225lb) extension ladder to put gutter guards at a height of 17ft. I would have hired someone because I don't do extension ladders. Every time I'd get up to the 10'-12ft mark my knees would start shaking. I absolutely never felt safe, EVER, with them. I have no problem with A-frames. I even tried out the stabilizer with the u-bolts , and I felt just as fearful , and refused to use it. After purchasing the ladder I went searching for the best stabilizers. I almost bought the one from Werner, but thanks to someone's helpful review, their stabilizer (advertised as universal) doesn't even fit all of their own ladders, especially the one I purchased- INCREDULOUS!! I came across this product, and after researching and reading the good and bad reviews, I felt comfortable enough to order it. I did pray that it would fit my ladder, and that it was going to be a quality product and be a true lifesaver. Putting it together would have been easier if I read the instructions. Don't tighten the bolts until they're all in! This thing has some weight to it, but was so damn easy to install on to the ladder. The most difficult part was raising it. Because it's so top heavy, my old, short husband and I had a hell of a time pushing it up. We managed to get it to 15ft, but by the time I finished the job it was 13ft. I'm wondering if it's possible to raise the ladder first and then put it on. Then of course I'm back to climbing an unstable ladder. I'm sure strong guy(s) would have no problem raising it. Now to the moment of truth...this product is absolutely AMAZING!! Not for one second did I feel unsafe, and I was even able to squat down, like I was on the ground, to make cuts as needed for the gutter guards. Also, there were sections when the ladder was half on the window and half on the vinyl siding, and kinda crooked, and yet it still didn't budge. As long as the feet of the ladder are stable, this holds secure. For taller and heavier people it may work differently, so it would be helpful if others put their height and weight when writing a review. For me, this $70 was worth every penny to feel safe and secure.
Great

Great product
You’ll probably need to contact the manufacturer for hardware

Box was in great shape upon delivery. Lightweight. Packaged well. Stabilizer looks sturdy and in good condition. I'm sure it will be perfect for my needs. However, I haven't been able to assemble it yet because it didn't come with the necessary hardware. The good thing is the manufacturer has excellent customer service and apparently this is a common problem because before I could even say what product it was for the rep asked if it was for this model number. They acknowledged someone forgot to package hardware on quite a few of these and they are mailing me what I need. For the value, I'm willing to wait for the hardware but if you need this for a project ASAP you're taking a risk. Also, don't use the customer support email on the packages instructions. Either call their number or email [email protected]
Industrial strength stand-off

Pros: easy to attach to my ladder after I had to cut the width down to fit my ladder. The stand-off is quite sturdy and I feel much more secure while on the ladder. It will hold the ladder away from the roof edge rather easily.
The main con is that the stand-off is made of steel and weighs 24 pounds. That is a chancy item to be trying to move around. I understand that steel is stronger than aluminum, but the added risk of the ladder getting away because of the heavier steel stand-off is significant and quite real. Scary!

Well built but heavy

This is very well engineered, and well executed. Actually ads stability to the ladder and make working on overhanging eaves very easy. I bought it for painting eaves, and immediately knew I would be using to hang Christmas lights also. The only negative is the weight, it's steel, and it heavy. So it makes maneuvering a tall ladder -mine is a 24'- very tricky with it installed. You will have to learn knew ways to maneuver your ladder. Assembly hint; when you assemble it. Put all the screws and nuts on loosely, and tighten after they are all in place.
