love it, this thing is large enough for 2 heads!! look at the image, the folded up section is about 3" of the hat, even folded up that far, I can still completely cover my head all the way down to my shoulders.

Update: so I wanted to clarify some things with this "hat" yes, it is large, too large... People keep telling me it looks funny. HOWEVER, the "large" dimension is the length, not the width of the hat. if you have a large head, it will still be "large" in length, but too small in width. Because of this issue, not even 2 days after I wrote this initial review, the inner seam ripped while I was putting it on. I wasn't sure what happened the first time, I did hear it... The second time the issue occurred, I figured it out. Approximately 50% of the diameter of the inner section (where the thinsulate is located, an area that stops just above my ears, whereas the rest of the hat is just knit) in 2 separate sections, has come completely unstitched. I have sown it back up myself and it is currently holding and has been without issue for over a month. I was disappointed in this and have reduced my rating from 5* to 4* due to this quality issue, which although is partly my fault, it would not have happened if the inside was not so narrow, or if the inside was "stretchy" like the outside section is.

Since this issue occurred, I have located my older thinsulate hat (no where near as long, but I discovered that it is the exact same width and also only has a little "beanie" section at the top with the actual thinsulate material. So, no change in the design as far as that goes, in over 10 years.
You will love - I do!

When I ordered this in Central Texas the weather was a very, very chilly day with strong N winds. As an somewhat older male I cannot handle the cold as I did at a younger age. On that very chilly day some friends and I were sitting outside and having coffee and all us were very cold. They all had stocking caps on and I had nothing on the head but a gimme cap. That day I searched Amazon and after looking and reading reviews I decided upon this one. Well as they say in Texas if you do not like the weather then wait a day. Two days later when USPS delivered it the low temp was 60 degrees and when the postman handed me the package it was 85 degrees. Bummer! I tried in on in front on the "AC vent" and it was PERFECT!
This coming Wednesday our friends up N are sending us another strong cold front and this time I am prepared.
Misleading - your ears will get cold

I bought this to keep my whole head including my ears warm, well guess what, the thinsulate only covers about a third of the hat, which covers the top of your head but not your ears.

See photo to see how much the thinsulate covers.
A bit big and comfy

Not a fan of how the tag sticks out but it's not so bad if I turn the hat the it's in the back. I thought I had a big head but this is a bit too big for me. Overall it's warm and comfy :)

Attached a couple of pics so you guys have an idea of what it looks like on an average-ish head size.
Perfect for Colorado winters

Around 5:30 every morning I take my yellow lab Katy for a walk. We go for at least a mile weekdays, and on weekends we go for two. What with sniffing, pooping, peeing, and other doggy diversions these walks can take 25-60 minutes in the cold Colorado air. While the east coast was basking in 70 degree temperatures our high for several days was 14. Katy and I walked every morning in sub-zero cold, with wind, for weeks. All that is to preface my positive review of this amazing hat. In spite of windchill temps in the -20's, my bald head never felt a bit of a chill. Soft, fits my head perfectly (size 7.5), easy on and off, can be pulled down to cover neck and cheeks, and the price is incredible! I would easily pay three times for this type of comfort.
This morning it was 6 degrees out and tomorrow morning it might get up to a balmy 12. It doesn't matter - this hat can take it all.
