I wish I would've known.

Wow. One of those things I wished I would've done sooner. I have a cheaper mountain bike I use to run my big dog with a GT Karakorum and the pedals looked nice almost identical to these minus the studs, I cracked one in half a few weeks ago when it was below zero and tried just making do with it, I changed my mind when it started to flip underfoot while running through a singletrack in the woods. I'd hate to end up walking, so I purchased these after a little research and wow! What a difference, it is as if you have clips. Your feet are locked on no matter how you place them, it adds to the ride quality and now I plan on buying these same ones for my wife and kids bikes as well.
easily as light as a pair of xtr plus cleats

Bought these and a pair of 5 10 free ride shoes because of an ankle injury and could not get out of my spds. They are very light, easily as light as a pair of xtr plus cleats. After using them all summer I may just leave them on. I bought a pair for each mtb I have. They make riding a little more fun as you just hope on your bike and peddle. Many miles with no issues and no maintenance. Screws are sharp and any contact with skin will draw blood, sometimes a lot, which might be the only draw back. I don't think I would race with them as I "feel" faster with spds but have not proven this out. Great pedals for old guys with sore ankles or any spds user who wants to get up off the ground less...

good pedals but started making a clicking sound on the downstroke after only 4 month. I thought it was my bottom bracket but I just put my old pedals back on and the noise went away.
Less trips over the bars...!

I really enjoy these pedals. I slapped the purple ones on my 2016 Trek Slash 7 and they look great.
They're a few other pedals seemingly identical other than the Race Face logo on Amazon that are half the price.
For flat pedals where I mostly ride, I prefer the " plastic" type pedals. There are a lot of rock gardens with big pedal striking stones all over. One hard and violent recent pedal strike took a small chunk out of the pedal surprisingly. I think that was the most severe violent pedal strike I've ever had. If I had nice anodized aluminum pedals, I'm pretty sure this strike would have sent me over the bars. Plastic type pedals seem to slide during a pedal strike rather than grab as aluminum seems to do. With all this been said, the pedals did what I wanted them to do. I'm absolutely fine with the spike spacing and pedal size for enduro all mountain riding. If I was riding downhill only, I would choose a slightly smaller pedal for dry conditions.
I can't wait to try these in wetter conditions like in UK or Pacific North West conditions. But living in So Cal (Soithern California) lol, who knows when that'll be! After 6 weeks in them, I'll give them a 5 star rating.

Hard to beat the performance and durability to price ratio of these flats.

I've been using these for over a year and they've needed virtually no maintenance, just grease. They are light and so grippy with 5/10's that repositioning your foot can be troublesome if you don't nail it the first time. Damage to the nylon body is basically non-existent, but I've broken a couple of pins here and there, which are just normal m3's so they are easy to source and replace. Buyer beware, they'll bite your shins hard, and mine have the scars to prove it, but that is the case for most flats with metal pins. It's hard to beat the performance and durability to price ratio with these. They've outlasted one pair of five tens and are halfway through my second pair since I bought them, though that may be a result of my large feet hanging off the ends. I wear a size 12 Freerider and I'm considering replacing my chester's with a wider pedal like the raceface atlas, but I probably won't. If you're on the fence, you should just buy this pedal and be done with it. Durability and performance is too high to pass these up at a price and weight this low. Plus look at all the colors to match your awesome fatbike.
