There's an initial waxy layer to get through before you actually get to the exfoliating part, but once you do, it works quite well. It tastes sweet if you get some in your mouth, but other flavors in it aren't great.
I dampen my lips and rub the "lipstick" back and forth over all of my lips, then focus on problem areas. Next, I rub my lips together with the exfoliating bits still on, then wipe it off with a cloth dampened with warm water. While there are hydrating ingredients in the exfoliator itself, it's definitely important to add lip balm or another moisture barrier immediately after use. It really helps matte lipsticks go on more smoothly.

Super easy to use. I ensured my lips were clean and slightly damp, then I put this on just like lipstick. I used a lip scrub brush to help exfoliate. After I rinsed my lips off they were very smooth and all of the dry dead skin was gone. I just put on a good moisturizer, and my lips feel great!

I have really chapped lips no matter how much I drink water, my skin just doesn't retain the needed oils to hydrate itself. I especially can't enjoy Kylie's lipkits and other matte lip wears as much as I'd like because the effect is awful on chapped lips. This thing really softens up my dry lips and removes that dry skin. I only used it once because it just arrived today, it didn't get everything off but it smoothed out more than I can imagine. I suspect that after a week or two, my lips will be kissable because cuffing season, lol
