Read the instructions that come with the devise carefully. It is very easy to keep the mouthpiece in the hot water too long. Watch to see if the devise starts begins to curl. Take it out of the hot water; allow to slightly cool; put in your mouth and start forming it with your fingers to fit your teeth. The devise is not hard plastic, and will still be pretty flexible. It will not fit snug, but due to the high sides (which can be trimmed), it will still stay on your teeth all night. I ruined the first one until I got figured out when to take it out of the hot water. After forming, place in ice water to set.

Soft dental guards make your bite reflexes work harder, rather than helping with clenching these make it worse. They help with grinding but a big issue behind grinding is also the clenching which these definitely don't improve. Also, I may have not molded it completely correctly (and I have a small mouth so they may just have been a little too big anyways), but mine rub my gums on the inside of my teeth, on both the top and the bottom, almost to the point of rawness.

Aside from multiple followup emails asking me to write a review, I have no complaints about Dental Duty or these dental guards. They're thinner than most, but still tough enough to deal with bruxism (teeth grinding during sleep). Forming the sleep guard correctly can be a little touchy. You literally have seconds before you're under or overboiled the guard so use a time and follow the instructions carefully.

If you mess up, Dental Duty says they will ship you a new one. That's a really nice gesture.

If I wanted to nitpick, I'd say I'm not a fan of the mouth guard case because there are no air holes and it's hard to open which may send your newly formed mouthguard flying. If you suffer from bruxism, you probably have a collection of cases by now.

Still, the mouth guards form nicely along your teeth and gums to they stay put. You get four guards to a package and the price is right. Can't ask for better than that!

This Professional Dental Guard from Dental Duty comes with 4 guards, directions, and guard case inside of a box. The guards are BPA Free. They can be used to help protect teeth from grinding or clenching, as athletic mouth guards, or as teeth whitening trays. The Amazon product picture of the mouth guards make them appear to be a light blue color but mine are clear. Watch the video to see instructions and a demo of molding the guard to the teeth.

Experience using the product
I clench my jaws and possibly grind when I sleep. After chipping one of my teeth, my dentist suggested using a mouth guard at night. I was afraid the guard would mess up my teeth, so I didn't try one. Then I chipped another tooth and the dentist told me again to use a night time mouth guard. This time I listened. I have used many different brands, made of varying textures. I even tried the kind that molds to your top AND bottom teeth on the double-sided guard"¦.felt like I couldn't get enough air with that one since I am also a mouth breather.
By now I have been sleeping with mouth guards for several years. I always dread when it is time to make a new mold. But this set with their directions being surprisingly easy to follow makes it simple. The guards also feel more pliable and soft to my mouth and gums, which I really appreciate.

Here is a tip I have learned over the years of molding guards to my teeth. There is a slight v in the front top of this mouth guard. Have a mirror near you to use when you place the guard in your mouth and before you do any fitting, line that v mark on the mouth guard to the center of your 2 front teeth.
It depends on how severe you grind or bite on the guards when you wear them, as to how soon you have to replace. I can wear mine between 4-6 months before replacing.

I always rinse my mouth guard before putting in my mouth for a better and cleaner feeling at night.
In the morning you can brush your mouth guard after brushing your teeth. Rinse well and allow the mouth guard to dry completely before storing in its storage case. I have seen were someone said they boiled their mouth guard to clean it, but beware of possibly melting your mouth guard if you boil it. The directions give clear instructions not to use water above 176F and no longer than 15 seconds in the water. (Every brand I have ever used says to remove the cup or bowl from microwave, or pan from stove top before putting the mouth guard in the water.)

Why the rating?
I give these mouth guards 5 stars for ease of molding, soft smooth texture against my teeth, gums, and tongue, easy directions for molding, and a storage case.

After all these years of using different kinds and brands of mouth guards, this is my favorite one!
I won't dread molding another one from this set when this one is ready to toss in the trash"¦.around 6 months. This product was received, and tested during a promotional period at a discount. I have attempted to give a thorough, comprehensive and honest review. I actually sleep better with my mouth guard protecting my teeth and jaw. I didn't expect that when I was told to wear one. No more chipped teeth or aching jaw in the morning. I hope this review has helped you.

Works great for the price. I really didn't want to spend $600 on the one from the dentist. This is a great alternative. Since I have started using it my jaw has been hurting a lot less from the teeth grinding caused by my meds.
