The matches are pretty, the box is pretty, and the strike is perfection. They make lighting the fireplace even more fun.

No More Strike Anywheres *sniff*

Since my last purchase of strike anywheres (what we called "safety matches" when I was a kid) four years ago, I have learned such matches are virtually banned now, as USPS, Fedex, and UPS have stopped delivering them for safety concerns. However that said, these are great strike on box wooden matches. On the box they light right up and the bigger longer lasting flame vs paper matches does the job well on both my grill and my harder to light small votive candles. The box they come in is nice looking also. Wooden sticks could be thickened a little bit but that is just a quibble.
Best Matches period.

Every other match I've ever used, (and I use a lot of them. We heat with wood, and have multiple lanterns), pales in comparison to the Ohio Blue tip. I prefer strike anywhere, but apparently they are now pretty much banned (although I have purchased other brands of strike anywhere to make into waterproof/Windproof matches, but you have to bundle them for them to approximate the old Ohio Blue tip Strike anywhere matches. Now that matches have to be struck on a chemically treated strike pad, they barely put a tip on them, and the strike pads are rarely solid, so you have to try to strike them several times, which wears away what small amount of head the match has, so it may or may not light before the stick breaks. I have never had an Ohio Blue tip need more than one strike. I'm probably way too obsessed with this subject, but it is irritating that matches have gotten to costly, and are so shabbily made. Signed, a grumpy old man.
Think about your best memories

Although these aren't the matches from my childhood they are a pleasant reminder of my past and aside from the fact they actually work great they also remind me of simpler times and I'm greatful for that. EDIT now instead of 6 bucks they're 8. Whatdya think bout that??
