Great for astronomy
Michael + Ashley Spotts•September 7, 2018
INITIAL REVIEW: I purchased this for astronomy to mount on an 8" dobsonian telescope. Given the bargain price, I had limited expectations. The included battery lasted less than two minutes, causing me to think the laser broke. Thankfully, once swapped for an Energizer, we were back in action. At night, the beam is sufficiently visible in my central Phoenix backyard. Once in a dark site, I think it will be quite good. I mounted it on a UTG picatinny rail designed for Ruger 10/22 (Amazon, $7), and attached it with Velcro. Seems pretty solid. Already, it has made a significant difference in acquiring position. Really, it's stupidly simply to lock on stars and planets now. Deducted one star for dead battery and being less bright than hoped (but notice the price!). All in all, worth it. I plan to check back in with an update if things go south.
I can't believe I waited this long to get a good star pointer!

I installed this on my Meade SN-6 and all I can say is wow! How did I live without this for so long. I mean a Telrad and those daisy bb gun type red dot sights work VERY well but this one I don't have to always sight down the tube to point at an object. Hunting down those deep sky objects is easier because you can check the chart and put the laser in the area in the sky and start looking. The first concern I had was "shining laser at aircraft". I won't do that but I live near a small county airport and don't want to accidentally do that. My thoughts are this laser isn't strong enough to cause any issues and now that I've used it' you'd just about have to point it at an aircraft on purpose...and those would be low flying ones to boot. THE FIX? The fix is this kit includes a momentary switch that I mounted on my scope so the laser only goes on for a few seconds at a time rather than using the click switch. I used double sided tape and mounted it just below my focuser and it works out perfectly. Aiming the beam to put what I"m pointing at in the center of the eyepiece was a breeze. The pointer is well made and sturdy. Nice feel and finish.
Remote not working and WILL NOT hold zero
Corey Erman•July 7, 2018
I put it on my AR15. At first it seemed great for the price. Very easy to adjust. However, I am sending it back for 2 reasons:
1. I could hardly get the remote pressure switch working. I think it worked 2-3 times when clicked 50 times. I tried to tighten and loosen the cap. Tried many tensions on it to get the right contact setting and could never get the remote working consistently. Then I went to the range without the remote, which is useful just by the click button.
2. It will NEVER EVER hold zero. It moved with every single shot to where after about 5-6 shots it was way off. I zeroed it to my scope and watched it move away from center with every shot. Zeroed it back and watched it keep moving. Useless.
Well, you get what you pay for. It can't handle an AR15.

Remote switch didn’t work
Reliabilityman•May 18, 2018
While the laser works ok the remote switch did not right out of the box new. Disappointed as this was the reason o purchased this laser over other ones. Poor manufacturing is the cause because if you ground the remote switch it works. Also after 2 shots it broke. Cheap I wouldn't recommend this product.
Unbeatable price and great quality

This is strongest and brightest lasers around I have tried, Great packaging and accessories. Rechargeable battery would be nice, but you can't complain at this price and it is plenty strong to maintain the brightness, In fact I like the laser that much I purchased three of them for me and my friend. Beside brightness another good point is that the power button on laser holding really well recoil of the of the AR type rifle. Many similar type of lasers in this price range would suffer problem with power switch that shuts down after every shot. One important point for future buyers. The laser constructed very well and very sturdy, but may suffer from problem with laser element moving forward after the recoil of regular (non-air soft) rifle and loosing contact with the battery. You may think that laser failed, but simple rubber washer of appropriate thickness installed in front of laser element will hold it place. This simple solution will absorb power of power of recoils and hold laser element in place. Not a single issue after.
I really recommend this laser. Combination of price, power and quality make it on the best laser on its class and price range.
