First time ever to own a cordless weed trimmer. VERY pleased with it so far after using it about 4 times. Even with a very large yard it does ok. I have an extra battery so can trim for a pretty long time. Would recommend this piece of equipment.
Works good, why mess with gas?

The trimmer arrived and I tried it out. Even on a mostly dead battery I was able to do about 50% of my normal trimming and the battery still had some left but it was getting very weak. The bump head works beautifully and even the line that comes with it seems reasonably strong and doesn't constantly break like my cheap corded trimmer with .065 line. My only real gripe is that it has a trigger lock which is designed to be used with your right thumb but I find it much easier to use the trimmer left-handed so the lock is a little difficult to get use. It has enough power on the low power setting for trimming but you need the high power setting for edging.
After charging fully, I did all of my trimming on 1 battery. I then swapped the same battery into the blower I also bought and cleaned of the driveway, back patio and front walkway with about 10% battery left. I probably could get 45 minutes run time from 1 battery.

edit: it took a while and quite a few phone calls but poulan got me a replacement battery and I'm back in business!
First, I"ll say that my family has been buying Poulan products for years (chainsaws, edgers, and blowers) and I never had any issues. I purchased this item less than a year ago (first time trying battery powered trimmer) and I used it and loved it all last summer. This year I tried to use it (stored in cool dry space) and the battery will not charge. I slide it on to the charger but the charging indicator light does not light up and the charge monitoring lights on the battery itself do not light up. The battery will not charge. I've had this product less than a year and now I can't use it. Severely disappointing. I tried calling the Poulan help line but they are not open on the weekends or evenings. I would have originally given this product a 5 start rating but without the battery its worthless. This might have ruined me for Poulan.

Bought this because I run a line trimmer over an hour every time I mow. Fuel mix engines seem to wear out after 2 or 3 years so I am trying battery trimmer. Package was delivered and I opened it. Trimmer was heavy and well made. Charged the battery and assembled trimmer. Assembly was easy with just a Phillips screwdriver. I had not trimmed yet this year due to gas mix trimmer not working. Weeds were over 24 inches. Trimmed along front porch (40 feet), along side of house (30 feet), 4 trees, electric pole, telephone box, mail box and two property markers before it stopped (on high speed). It was quiet and trimmed well. The only minor issue was the trimmer line is thinner than I have used before so it is more flexible and cuts a little slower. Over all very positive.
The bump head can be replaced

The purpose of the review is mostly to note that the Speed Feed 400 Echo 99944200908 Speed-Feed 400 Trimmer Head (many brands all the same thing) fits on this trimmer and works fine. I am quite impressed with how quickly this thing rips through edging. Have not used it too much, just got it, but so far seems to be doing great. I will update if I change my opinion on it. It lost a star because the stock bump feed system is very difficult to replace as others have noted.
