The UK's Secret to Superior Baked Goods!
Mary Ann Yedinak✓ Verified Purchase•June 11, 2018
Wow! Want your baked goods to have a superb, natural taste? Want cakes or breads to be light and subtle in taste? Want the best tasting desserts to serve family and friends? Then immediately order some of this sugar! No wonder those Great British Bake-Off Recipes I had tried did not turn out as expected before. This baking sugar, made from beets, is the best on the market. As Americans, we have become used to cheap sugar (cane sugar) prices and even have trouble finding baking sugar. This is going to be a regular item that I stock in my pantry, and I plan on trying it in family cookie recipes that have been passed down over time to see what impact it has on those, too. Sometimes what seems at first to be a splurge becomes a necessity when you are baking gifts of love for your loved ones!
It is a pretty small bag though

People in the questions section were asking what it is - it's a sugar for baking. It's grain is halfway between granulated sugar and powdered sugar. I thought it was interesting that this is made in the UK, and not from sugar cane (which of course doesn't grow there). Sugar beets - who knew?
I'm in Texas, and I wanted it to make Mary Berry's Christmas Pavlova. I made it once already with what we call raw organic sugar, and the Brits call Demerara sugar, but I wanted to try it legit!
It's sugar - so I gave it 5 stars. It is as advertised. It is a pretty small bag though. I'll include a picture with a teaspoon for scale.

It is great for recipes that need it, but the measurement differences made it a lot less than I thought I was ordering.
Sugar Used in the Great British Baking Show

This is extra fine sugar used in UK for baking sponge cakes. Just wish it were sold over her in America and you didn't have to wait for the shipping from there to here. I learned about this sugar from the Great British Baking Show. Great product and glad Amazon makes it available.
Great find for British baking

So glad I could get this for English baking recipes. American cane sugar just doesn't work the same. And the price was much cheaper than at a specialty grocery.
