Erosion Remedy
YMMV✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 11, 2024
My rear neighbor's trespassing silver maple weed has devoured most of my small back yard with annual freeze/thaw cycles, including top soil I had had trucked in several years ago. While they didn't plant it, my experience has resulted in forming the opinion that it should be a prosecutable offense to plant or *foster* such an invasive monster within 100ft of anyone else's property line. But I digress.

Because these are pricey, I placed just one length of 5 parallel to the property line and my patio. During a break from an extended period and heavy accumulation of rainfall, I hammered them into rocky clay relatively easily just below ground level and followed with new soil. I did start over after determining that the large tab needed to be to my rightmost side (moving left to right) before adding the next section. I assembled them one at a time rather than as a combined length, but if more than one person assists or if you're left-handed, your technique and results may vary. I used a rubber mallet and a short length of wood, as instructed by the manufacturer. Because of the numerous feeder roots and shade - and we are talking about 40ft from the tree trunk, regular grass will not grow there, so I topped it with mulch. We don't need to discuss the number of seedlings that are thriving there and everywhere else already. The continuing rain (now more than 10in over a 4wk period), has helped erode more of my soil below the edging, but what was laid on the upside of the edging has remained in place.

These are *very* heavy lengths of strong metal. Constructing a curve probably would not be difficult; sharp turns would require much more effort. I will purchase more as finances permit so I can work my way toward the tree.
Upgraded to 5, you Rock Stars!! (Edited) Should be 5 stars -- FIX THE TABS!!!

Rock Star update/upgrade

Having bought 5 or 6 more sets, I'm finding the tabs to be easier to connect... maybe you improved them, or maybe I improved my install skills!... very likely it is the latter.

Either way, this is an amazing product and worth every penny. You won't believe how it keeps grass and weeds OUT -- my grasses are Bahai and St. Augustine, and it NEVER gets past the edging. I'd also like to give the company HUGE credit for very little, if any, "Supply Chain" price increases -- thank you!!

It is also height-versatile -- in some areas I've pounded it in lower so I can run the lawn mower with one wheel OVER it and not have to edge or weed whack at all -- yay, and in other areas I've installed it higher to keep junk on the OUTSIDE from getting on the INSIDE -- like keeping leaves out of a garden bed.

I believe my first sets are at least 3 years old, maybe 4 and they are absolutely like brand new. I feel VERY confident these will last a very, VERY long time.

Advice... Be SURE to have or buy a rubber mallet, it's absolutely mandatory, and with this next one, I'm not giving advice, just a share -- take it or leave it and don't sue me... I have REALLY POUNDED them in HARD next to my driveway to get through the base rocks and they don't show even a ding or a dent. They are EXTREMELY sturdy and TOUGH little heckers!

And an idea... With the high price per set (but worth it!) I'm swapping out my old edging 5 at a time every other month or so. It seems like forever to wait, but eventually it will all be done and fabulous.

This is one of the very best garden products I've ever used. Kudos!!

Original Review:
This product is just awesome. It looks so precise and perfect and beautiful. The price leaves A LOT to be desired though. If you have the money, splurge, totally worth it, nothing else I've found comes even close. They don't get five stars though on a quality issue. There is connection point that rarely lines up correctly, and at this massive price IT SHOULD and the company should address it. I've installed quite a bit and the "tab" that is supposed to be pushed through to hold the connection has only lined up ONCE. That's unacceptable at this price. Other than that, it's a REALLY beautiful product.
The edging is effective

It does a great job of holding the dirt in place and is very effective in heavy rain conditions. This is a reorder for me. It's expensive so I'll only buy a little each year and I use it in the most vulnerable areas. Great color selection.
Sturdy Edging, not a fan of the tabs

I like the quality and the sturdiness, I had to rehammer it in a few times to fix the placement and it still held up perfectly fine. I bought these because the Colmet ones was out of stock and also about $40 more expensive for the same length.

I do wish it offered an easier way to connect the pieces, I'm not a fan of having to pull the tab because once you hammer down a piece and connect another, it's troublesome. If you connect it all and pull the tab and you are dealing with a long length, it's annoying to move/adjust 30+ feet of this all connected to each other. I also wish they offered 90 degree or edge pieces to connect or cover up the holes at the end so it would look more clean.
Metal edging that looks great

I'm a 78 year old woman and have installed three sets of the edging and will now purchase two more. Before installing the edging, I watered the ground the day before so the prongs would go into the ground easier. The only problem I had was forcing the small metal tongue through the hole in the rear panel. It was much easier to do when the two panels were laying on the ground. Ladies, if I can do it, you can do it.
