I've read all of the reviews prior to purchasing this item, including the ones where people were able to get the screws to fit the poles. I'm pretty handy and liked the idea of an indoor plantstand so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm confident in my reading skills, I'm pretty good with tools and I'm certainly not blind. THE SCREWS FOR THE POLES GENUINELY DO NOT FIT! It's not about applying the right pressure or using the right tool. It's a simple screw with a simple hole so whether you're using a simple screwdriver or a simple powerdrill the screw simply doesn't fit. If you are somehow able to screw the poles together it's because you've drilled a new hole or bought new screws. Also the instructions on how to put this plantstand together does the buyer no favors. All in all it's a great idea made with mediocre material and absolutely poor craftsmanship. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM!
