Love Gideon, real wax, flameless candles, but this time a couple of them were noisey. The flame mechanism made
sounds. The loads of candles I bought a few years back were great. They were the 7 & 9 & 5 inch candles and they
were all quiet and didn't like the look of these new ones, Don't understand why the 5" [actually 4 & 3/4"] candles now make noises. Sure miss the other earlier ones. But is smells wonderful and are still beautiful. Watch your prices though. Don't get too expensive, or I won't be able to continue to get them every couple of years. I use my candles throughout the year, not just during the holidays.

Received a set of two and I'm going back for more! I love this product. For years I've been buying the LED candles from "L" at QVC. I love them too but they are too darn expensive. So I went searching on amazon and found these highly rated LED candles. They are beautiful and flicker just like those expensive ones. These are called dripping candles because they appear to be dripping wax down the sides. They are vanilla scented which I happen to like. It comes with this amazing little remote which you use to program the timer or turn it off and on. It also allows you to dim the light or soften it. And you can even program it to not flicker. This is an amazing buy.

I was skeptical but decided to take a chance this electric candle,especially after experiencing (and being disappointed with) other electric candles and votive styles. After reading other reviewers explain how life-like this looked and the benefits of the remote control, I took the plunge and HOLY COW! I hit the jackpot with this product! I've always loved candles, but seldom have a chance to enjoy them, with cats in my life who sometimes jump up where they aren't supposed to be. This candle and remote has it all:
* It looks and smells absolutely real (except for the balanced thin wick up close)
* LOL, it's made from real wax, so there you go. The vanilla scent is lovely, but not overpowering IMO
* Was't sure what "dripping" meant - it refers to the lifelike dripping candle wax on the outside,since the top is irregular and the eye interprets this candle as partially burned
* 2AA batteries later, I was ready go to.
* As other reviewers have noted, without the remote you have ho-hum ON-OFF control
* WITH the remote you have a wealth of choices (don't forget to pull out the thin plastic on the back side of the remote that keeps the battery (already provided) from making contact until ready for use)
* The remote has the following options:
1) ON or OFF, then tune your preferences from among all the following categories
2) Timer category: 2H 4H 6H 8H (number of hours you want the "candle" to "burn"), if you want to use the timer feature at all
3) Mode category: Candle or Light
4) Dim category: a PLUS (+) choice to make it brighter and a MINUS (-) choice to make it brighter or dimmer
Because it's made from real wax, I set it on a coaster on the table next to my reading/TV chair, and selected
ON
TIMER: 6H
MODE: Candle
DIM: pressed the minus sign twice
then turned the device slightly so the "wick" was out of direct sight. Wht wick is designed to float on a tiny wire suspended across the "melted wax" void that's at the center, around 1/2 inch or slightly less. I had to give the wick a gentle little nudge -- more of just a slight touch -- to get it to start floating (it had stuck to one side and wasn't moving). The results were astonishing! I was very pleased with the ambiance that this set-it-and-forget-it candle provided, and sure enough, it went off after 6 hours. Other reviewers were right,however, the remote is small and easily mislaid.My solution: I just purchase some of those lovely Sistema Klip It Collection Multi Piece Food Storage Containers, Set of 16(8 containers and 8 Lids) containers and picked an appropriate size, piled in all the small stuff I'm usually hunting for (Chap stick, hand-cream, nail file) and tucked the remote into that. Problem solved. Even so, the next day I went looking for the remote, and it was hiding in plain sight among this stash, so I may put it into a larger plastic bag or into a Sistema container all on its own.
Finally, IMO it's far more bang for the buck than other electric candles out there, It performed beyond my expectations and I can even use rechargeable AA batteries to avoid adding more spent alkaline batteries to landfill. Kid safe, pet safe, forgetful me safe, this product does it all, and looks and smells great while doing it. Strongly recommended!
PS My newly discovered really-works-like-magic hand cream is Miracle Hand Repair Cream 8 Oz Lotion Relieves Dry, Cracked, Flaking Helping Hands Reduce Redness For Hands Elbows Knees Best Therapeutic Purest Whole Leaf Natural Aloe Vera Organic , and I have this in my pocket/purse/car/chair-side/nightstand at all times: ChapStick Classic SPF 12 Sunscreen and Skin Protectant (3-Count, 0.15 oz. Each) .

The instructions are sparse, but it is fairly intuitive. One neat thing to be aware of - i hit the 2hour button to see if it worked. It did. The candle was "lit" for 2 hours and went off. The next day, at the same time, it turned on and was lit for the same 2 hours. And the next day the same 2 hours the candle lit. I did not hit the off button, so the candle acted like a timer turning on for those two hours every day. Nice feature as long as I remember to turn the candle off when I put it away.

Looks very realistic and has a strong vanilla scent. This candle is so much better than other 'flickering' flameless candles because the 'flame' moves, rather than being a stationary plastic piece with a flickering light projected onto it. It works like the very expensive flameless candles from Pottery Barn. I am pleased with the product and the price is excellent. I have it inside a glass lantern and the remote works through the glass. I would purchase this again easily. My only suggestion for improvement is that it would be nice if it came in some different colors, namely white. This one is a darker ivory, which is neutral and goes with most décor.
