Versatile with a vintage vibe

I bought this to carry my basic guitar gig bring-alongs - a tuner, a capo, spare set of strings, picks and a back up battery. I wasn't sure they'd all fit, but it's perfect for what I wanted. It's got a cool patina, but it's lined so none of that scuzzy rub-off nonsense. The side pocket is perfect for business and download cards, so this is just right for my purposes. Everything about it - the leather, the zippers, the lining - exudes quality craftsmanship, I'll def be looking at more products from Rustic Town. Even the packaging is awesome!
Great build quality

Great build quality. Pay attention to pictures of item, there's a lot of room in this thing.

I didn't stuff it with a dozen oranges like another user did, but it holds all my drafting pencils, replacement leads for all the sizes, erasers, and pens. I was considering getting one with a flatter profile than this for ergonomics and ease of fitting in a bag, but I really am liking this one.
Nicely Made Pencil Case

This case is very nicely made inside and out. The leather is an even "vintage" tone without significant blemishes. The stitching is even and straight. The zippers are good quality and operate smoothly. Both the main pocket and the smaller side pocket are fully lined. It's long enough for most pencils or pens, and it holds what I'd call a solid handful of drawing implements. The triangular ends are stiff enough to provide good protection to delicate pencil points, but they still have enough give to squeeze into a backpack.

For my purposes (about 10 lead holders, leads, erasers and a few pens), it is perfect. Well worth the cost. And very little odor of any kind.
Fun and Practical

This is pleasant departure from the nylon or plastic pouches I normally use. I keep various types of pens and pencils ready to carry with me. This is big enough to take extra tools such as a sharpener and erasers and scissors. A zippered compartment on the side is handy to keeping smaller or more delicate items isolated. It's even large enough to hold a fountain pen in a leather sleeve for extra protection.

I like that the base holds the case upright so it can stand by itself. The leather is stiff enough to hold its shape well, but has some flexibility. I've been happy with the way it travels.
Bet You Can't Buy Just One...

I rarely bother writing product reviews--I tend to figure that if there's a problem, I do what needs to be done to get it resolved...and if there's no problem, well, the seller was paid to provide a quality product, so the transaction went as it should have--no need to go on about it.

BUT. Every now and again, there's a product that's MUCH more than what you expected, worth MUCH more than what you paid for it--and that would be this RusticTown pencil case...and then...well, then, I can't help sharing my delight.

"Delight" is exactly the right word. The price is inexpensive for a leather product--but there's absolutely nothing "cheap" about the product itself! The seams are perfect--not a wiggle in them, not a loose thread; the edges are smooth and neatly turned; the colors are subtle and sophisticated (I purchased both the moss green and the grey one (I think it's called "evening blue", but it's definitely a cool, medium grey)); the zipper clasps are appealing without drawing attention to themselves; the leather is smooth, reasonably supple, but sturdy, and has that pleasant leather scent; the company logo is attractive and unobtrusive--and the case even comes in its own drawstring bag, making it feel more "custom", less mass-produced.

I am not attaching any photos, because the product photos are actually pretty accurate, both in terms of color (allowing for monitor brightness), and what the case actually looks like.

The case is roomy enough that it's only half full, with 20 gel pens, a small microfiber cleaning cloth and a small spray bottle of water, but thanks to the triangular shape and the long zipper, it's quite easy to spread the case out a bit, to more easily see your pens, and to rummage through, to find the right one. The side pocket is thin, but comfortably holds another 4 pens and several refills. (You could fit a little more in the side pocket--but you'd sacrifice easy access for that.)

Other groupings that I experimented with fitting inside the case (after removing the pens! ;)) are...two pairs of prescription glasses and four pairs of reading glasses; an Eye One Display monitor calibrator and a mouse; a pair of dog toenail clippers, a pair of dog face trimmers, an Utsumi half moon comb, a fine tooth facial comb, a large glass nail file and, astonishingly, a small slicker brush (the toenail clippers push the sides out a bit--but if I were of a mind, I could squeeze a nail grinder in there, as well)...and...well, the truth is, after realizing I wanted four more of these, maybe even more--I had to stop experimenting with them, for the sake of my budget.

(I actually wound up purchasing a couple of their OTHER pencil case, as well--it's smaller than this one, maxing out at around 20 pens--but works beautifully for a couple of pairs of glasses; a doggie dental kit--small toothbrushes, 6 dental scaling instruments, and a tube of toothpaste... And I confess that I've just ordered a couple of their dopp bags, for larger collections of things... ;)) [EDIT TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: I received one of the dopp bags--and it was AWFUL. All seams had a furry, grey, dusty mold over them; 3/4 of the bag had a silvery grey "bloom" of mold over it, so that it actually looked like they'd mismatched leather colors, when sewing it together; it REEKED of mold mixed with leather, and was not stuffed full of tissue paper, so the bag itself was crushed and bent permanently out of shape in places, never mind that the leather was discolored and marred from how it had been stored. Although I am now the proud owner of 6 pencil cases...I won't be buying from RusticTown anymore, after the experience with the dopp kit. I've NEVER received ANY item bought online that was in such rotten shape, before--and there are at least four other reviews on the dopp bag in question, mentioning the mold and the smell--so it wasn't an isolated incident. :/ I'm not modifying my rating--because the pencil cases ARE wonderful--but I would now temper my former enthusiasm with a "caveat emptor" regarding any RusticTown products. :/ END OF EDIT]

All together, the case is so charming, and so useful for medium groupings of things, that you'll find yourself going through the list of people you know, wondering who you can convince to try them out--so that you won't be the only RusticTown "junkie" you know.

If you like beautiful, well-crafted items...and have a thing for organizing your "stuff" into various cases--give this a try. Just don't blame ME, when you keep finding new reasons to buy more of them! ;)
