This unit works!

Forget the cheap ones that hurt your hand and bend ,this is a heavy duty punch and riveting tool I use it on thick leather no problem ,,I had to squeeze hard on some of the thickest material the handles did not bend . One thing there is a pin on the punch shaft you take out to open the jaws took me a while to figure it out .just to let other know . good product good price .

The tool itself was better made than I expected at the price. Very easy to use and the results were great. The grommets leave a sort of ugly fanned back, but the front surface is fine. I was able to find some 2 piece grommets that had a front and back that looked much nicer for the project I was doing. But the ones that came with the tool will be fine for most uses.

As others noted there are no instructions and no info on the exact size of the grommets for replacement purposes. In order to open the pliers the first time you need to pull the little pin on the top front of the pliers. These are fine for one layer of lightweight fabric. Certainly not leather or canvas. This works fine for my purpose but the information on the add is misleading.
Don't waste your money on this.

I thought I was going to get a much larger hole than I got with these. This device gives you an eyelet, not a grommet, so it is misnamed. I tried it with different fabrics and it didn't penetrate through. I wasted my money buying this because it didn't work. I can't imagine it working on leather. Also, it came without instructions!

Item simply NOT as advertised on mfg.'s description. No instructions for starters, and would not install a grommet into tissue paper. However is advertised to work in leather and other similar materialS. I was attempting to return it, but it's not worth the travel expense to deliver it to facility. Truly disappointing! I read the reviews beforehand and thought this may have been the better unit. This turned out not to be the case. SADLY, this grommet plier set. It couldn't put a grommet in wet tissue paper!
