Finally a dark brown that matches my couch
Mallory•September 2, 2017
My cats ruined the back of one part of my couch and there really isn't anything else wrong with the couch, so we have no intent on buying a new one. I searched for patches before and couldn't find the right color (this couch is a very deep brown) the closest match I could usually find was black. After some time of covering it with a throw blanket, I searched again and saw someone who had the same couch posted a pic in their review and was thrilled to see the color match.
1 roll got most of the top back of one cushion covered, but I had a bit more to do and I wanted to do a second layer over some areas. The tape is thick, so forcing it to bend causes bumps. Don't learn the hard way and opt instead to allow the tape to lay flat and trim for curves rather than attempt to follow the curve with the tape. Start farthest away from your light source and move towards it so edges appear covered.
2 rolls allowed me to finish and cover any bumps or visibe creases in the first layer. I have a bit left.
If feels smooth and like tape; duct tape would likely feel more leather-like than this tape, but it is thick and tacky. For the price, I wouldn't have expected it to feel like actual leather.
I am very happy to have fixed my couch for less than $20.
(Ps. Pics taken at different times of day causing couch to appear different colors. Same couch, I promise.)

Don't bother. Starts peeling up in 3 days.

Do you have a pleather sofa or dining room chair that has started to crack after just a few years? Think this will be a worthwhile fix till you decided to replace the item? Yeah, so did we.
The color was perfect, it had a lot of stick going on, and for the most part blended right in with the rest of our couch. We got this to cover up some long cracks at the sides of the sofa cushions where the cushions rub together and it seemed to be a great fix...for the first 2 days. By day 3 of normal evening couch use the edges began to peel up and now after 1 week the strips are starting to peel up even more.
Do not buy this stuff; it will not fix your problem unless your tear is on an unused surface that never moves or gets touched. It is the 1st and last time I ever have pleather anything.

Beats buying a new couch!

Worked for me! I didn't have high expectations. If you look closely, you can still see where the tape is but it's way better than a torn up, major eye sore rip. I have two toddlers and two dogs and in the past few years, our vinyl sectional has gotten torn up badly. This stuff got the job done. The texture of this tape is just right, the color ALMOST blends right in. I got the dark brown color and my couch is in between black and dark brown. Next time, I think I will just go with the black. Any how, the great thing about this tape is that I can just keep buying it to patch up the couch some more instead of buying a whole new couch.
I have an old recliner that is so comfortable, I can't bring myself to discard

I have an old recliner that is so comfortable, I can't bring myself to discard. It is imitation leather and this tape works great on the cracks that are coming in on the arms of the chair. It's been on for about six months and hasn't come off yet. The arms are partially covered so I don't know if this stops the peeling or not. I am very pleased with this tape. Matches pretty good too!
Good idea, just not great

Good idea, just not great. I was expecting maybe too much from this. Its a very rigid and not flexible material at all. Makes it very difficult to repair my faux leather couch. Other than that it is sticky enough and makes the rips in my couch way less noticeable. Overall this is a need product just wish it was more cloth like so it would be flexible and look like a natural repair. Honestly it just looks like i put brown tape on it but whatever good enough i guess.
