A nice easy solution to fixing my tub overflow leaking, without having to go into the wall and perfectly place a gasket or remove the old one. I just plugged this in, screwed the cap on, tested it, and there were no leaks.

gotta second the review that warned about the tabs on other brand covers - buy a new cover from them without said tabs (and only pay the crazy shipping on the already over-priced plastic once) - but it solved the problem so *shrug*🤷"â'€ï¸

Love this. A plumber will charge $300 to install a similar gasket in the overflow drain of your tub. Get this and save yourself damage to drywall and money. The original installed in the tub tends to dry out and break down after 15-20 years. I bought these gaskets for a thirty year old house I moved into to be proactive and prevent leaks in my tubs. Easy install. Get a flat head screw driver and remove the screws. If the screws or covers have any corrosion soak them in vinegar for 10-30 minutes and scrub with abrasive pad. Line up the gasket flat side out, the metal plate, and the original cover over the screw holes. Reinstall screws. Say goodbye to overflow leaks for another decade or two.

FYI, I haven't actually tested this yet, but I have complete confidence it will work. I just wanted to share a little information.

As others have mentioned, your existing cover plate may not work. In my case the cover plate has two little tabs towards the bottom that prevent the gasket from lining up with the screw holes. I went ahead and just broke the tabs off with pliers and was able to align everything properly, which I "THINK" will work. If it doesn't, well, I will buy the proper cover plate and start all over.

That's why I give the product 4, rather than 5, stars. If this information was more prominently displayed in the item description (currently the only mention of this is in a Q&A from February 2018) I would have just bought the package and saved time, not to mention extra shipping costs.

Again, I have zero doubt that this product works as advertised. I'm moving to a 3 bathroom home next year and intend on preemptively installing these in all of the tubs. One less thing to worry about.

The back of our overflow drain was damaged (near the 1:00 position as shown in the photo) . It was chewed up and did not seal with any grommet we tried. This solved the problem immediately. I did add a ring of silicone around the outside as a precaution, but it works great.
