Hit it with a hammer
Sean HaywardJuly 13, 2018
Found one of these things clipped to the side of a lineset I bought one day. At first I didn't like the bulky feel and like another reviewer I had immense trouble getting the existing blade out, and a new one in. It took me some time to figure out YOU MUST HAVE THE BLADE HOLDER AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE HANDLE TO FULLY DEPRESS THE BLADE UNLOCK BUTTON.

Once I figured that out the sky was the limit with this thing. You can jam the blade fully into a masticed sheet metal connection or a caulk joint and pound away on the flat on the back of the blade holder with a hammer and the knife won't even flinch. Dozens of occasions beating on this thing with a hammer and the blade holder never wobbled whatsoever, and the blade itself wobbled less than any other razor knife I've ever owned.

Lost the thing eventually, and now I'm ordering 2 because this thing should be twice the price it is.

I purchased this knife because I thought it looked nice. Only two reviews made me a little wary but what the heck. In my opinion, the knife is a poorly made Chinese item. Opening is a two handed affair and is not smooth. Blade insertion is tricky to say the least. There is a very small push button on the blade holder that does not really push in very well. It took undue effort and time to finally insert the blade. I tried to remove the blade but was unable to. The knife is in the trash. Live and learn. I am not a knife snob but I do appreciate well made items, especially tools. Chinese made is no problem for me; WE knives are widely recognized for their quality. I am currently saving up for three of their models. My suggestion? Look elsewhere for an utility knife.

Solid, ergonomic and nice looking knife!

Knife is well built, solid lockup, and comfortable to hold. Belt clip does not dig into hand when gripping with either hand. A very nice size for pocket carry. I have several other similar knives, Klein, Lenox and Cerberus, and this is my new favorite.
I carry good knives when not working, Spyderco, Chris Reeves and Sog, so for a knife I use more and five days a week, I am always looking for a great utility folder, and once this knife loosens up and opens easier, it will be hard to beat. The Klein I carried prior to this was great, with a push button release, but the rubber handle is wearing away and the paint is wearing off, along with the screws coming loose. The Lenox is junk, stay away from that, and the Cerberus is heavily built, but the spring that holds the blade release came out, so I removed it.
This knife has no rubber to wear off, no cheap springs to break, and a good feel to it. This is my first Hilmon purchase and won't be my last. If anyone knows of a better knife, let me know, I'll try it too.
