Given that there is a button you push to turn it on, when the dog gives a shake, it can hit the switch and change the setting. But since there are 3 settings, it takes 3 shakes to turn it off. Good for the price. And I'm sure I could find a way to make into a solid clip that goes onto the collar so when the dog shakes it doesn't hit rattle on the collar and hit the switch.

I love these! We live in apartment complex and people drive too quickly through. I have two small dogs and worried at night that someone wouldn't see them. These lights really help. Would be a good product if it worked! The light is bright, and I liked the design, and supplying extra batteries is nice.
HOWEVER, the first tag had only one out of two lights working from the very beginning; the second one seemed OK, but when we went out for the very fist time, it started switching off by itself intermittently, which makes it pretty useless.
