Quality control problem with fit, but great hat if you get lucky.

I ordered a black and an orange of this hat, both in size large. The orange fit like it was custom made to my head. The black fit the diameter of my head fine, however, it did not have enough material above the band to keep it on my head. It would pop up every time I put it on because the top of my head pressed at the top of the hat. The orange one did not have that problem. I would give the orange one 5 stars and the black one 0 stars, so I compromised in my rating.
In regards to the hat itself, it is made for cold weather. Not only does it have the pull-down flaps, but it is also insulated. It will be quite warm in the winter. I am excited to wear the orange one outside, as I like winters. I would not suggest this hat for warm weather or even for wearing indoors unless you are the type person that is always cold. (or has a bald head)
While I am very disappointed that one of the two hats (of the exact same size) was made incorrectly, I really like the one that was made well. And I still want a black leather hat. Therefore, I will order a similar black hat that does not have the flaps in the hopes that it will be made correctly. I would have sent the black one back for a replacement, but I was afraid that it might have come from a bad run and I would be back with another bad hat.
With that being said, I previously read a review from a man that had a similar problem with a leather hat from the same company and that one did not have flaps. It may simply be a quality control problem with the cuts of leather and how they are stitched together. If the next black hat from this company has the same problem, then I will return that one too and order from another company.
One other thing, if the manufacturer is reading these reviews; I do not like that metal emblem. In order for it to be attached, you cut two slits in the hat. That could lead to a ripped hat or rust forming on the metal inside when a person's head sweats. Leave the logo off.

I purchased a couple of inexpensive hats to try this style of hat out. Premise: I am NOT a hat guy. So, I get those hats and like the style. I now refine my style into a look...
This hat LOOKS GREAT on my with a slightly longer bill in the front...but the FEEL of the leather is soooooooooooo gooooood...
I want to sleep in the hat it feels so good. Adjusting the hat and feeling the "plushness" of the leather and the stiching is fantastic.
Now, when it gets warm here in CA, I may not be able to wear it as much. BUT as a winter hat, It's HANDS DOWN a great fit and Feel!!

I am in love with this hat. I easily would have paid over 100 dollars for a hat of this quality, and the fact I've ordered two for less then that, is amazing.
There's two versions. The standard hat is meant for more of a winter hat, it's well insulated, and has a flap for the back of your neck. I found that this hat was too hot for summer, but in the winter was perfect! Now that summer is here, I purchased their Spring/Summer version of the hat, and it is much cooler and lighter, making it perfect for the summer heat of Colorado.
The hat was initially a little tight for my head, but after wearing it the third day, it had stretched just enough to provide a perfect fit. It's not too tight, and I can drive with all the windows down and not feel like it's about to fly off my head.
Give it a chance to adjust to your head, and you won't want to take it off!

I never read 5 star reviews. I love this cap but- 2 things. one thing is the size. Reviews said "order big" because they come a bit small. I have a big head but I did not find the cap to be too small. (they say to stretch it.) Second is the photo- I have ordered two of these and neither match the smooth look of the photo. Did I mention that I love this cap? It is dead animal (leather) and there will always be imperfections. The Choice is yours, some caps come out better than others even when made at the same place and at the same time. The stitching is strong, the craftsmanship is high quality. Word of advice - sometimes when you pay more, ya don't get more.
If you need a warm flat cap you can't do better at this price.

The hat looks great, feels great, and fits great. This will be an excellent cold weather hat, even has ear covers folded up in the brim. The leather is thick and the patterning on the brown and black is very nicely done. The hat is deep enough that the brim goes right down to the tips of my ears and fits my noggin like a glove. The stitching is very well done and with good weight thread making the hat look like its going to last quite a while. There is a very cushy lining in the hat and it gets quite warm even at room temp so it is definitely only a winter hat, especially in TX. All in all I'm a little sad I wont be able to wear this hat more often, I bought it just for winter use but it really is a very nice hat.
