As the owner of several Yi cameras, I thought I found the complete, integrated solution with the additional of the outdoor cam. The video quality is satisfactory. However, the app to delete alerts requires too much time to recognize a "press" and is inconsistent when it does recognize the press. (NOTE: This is on a Pixel 2 XL and the press function works well for other apps so this is not a phone issue).

More infuriating is the method required to sign up for cloud service - it's only available through the Yi app. You cannot order cloud service through a windows Yi applications. Also, you must pay by PayPal if you want to register for less than a year for cloud service; you cannot pay by credit card for less than a year's subscription! While the price for cloud service is attractive, the difficulty in signing up for it makes frustrating!

Follow up a couple weeks later.

It is my experience that folks provide feedback when they are extremely happy or very upset about a product. If it is just average, many people will not take the time to write a review. To reinforce my view, I am very unhappy with this product! Since I previously invested in the Yi indoor cameras, I thought the outdoor camera would provide for a complete security system. I was VERY WRONG!

The primary purpose for this camera was for increased security. the more I try to use the system, the more frustrated I get. Now, when trying to view images stored in the cloud, the app hangs repeatedly. When trying to view video stored in the cloud, no video is ever returned. I'm currently on a trial subscription for cloud service & have pre-paid for future service. However, I now plan to cancel at the end of the current contract.

If the outdoor camera had functioned as advertised, I planned to use the cloud storage for my indoor video cameras. I'm glad that I did not subscribe to the service for the indoor cameras.

NOTE: The hanging app is not related to a specific device. I have attempted to use it on a couple different, current android devices - all with the same result! Bad service is also not related to the home network as this is the only application that fails consistently!

Lot of promise that is never delivered on! Due to the aggravation, I wish there were an opportunity to rate it ZERO starts.

Camera hardware is good. Software (App) is so bad it causes more frustration than its worth. The same problems have existed for some time and no apparent effort to fix them.

Excellent value for the price. I have three YI products, two indoor 1080P's and this one. The auto alerts through the app work well especially if you add a memory card - if you have a card, the app will record one minute videos rather than 6s clips. Make sure your card is 8-32GB. I have a 32GB. I tried a 64GB that I had on hand just to see but just as the specs say, they are not supported. As others have suggested, install the card before you mount the camera. The screws are tiny. I mounted my camera to a soffit which was a bit challenging because it is basically mounted to a piece of aluminum. I used some anchors I bought from the hardware store rather than the ones that came with it as those were made for drywall. I ran the wire up the soffit into an attic space and drew power from a light in the attic (lights are required by code where I live). The only problem I had was that if you mount the camera to the "ceiling", the minimum angle is still a little too much for what I'm trying to capture. All in all, very pleased with this purchase and I may add one to the bag of my house. But for now, I have lots of videos of delivery people. :-)

Overall I like the camera but there is some room for improvement in the YI Home app (Android)

Things I like about this camera
1. micro SD card option.
2. Decent length micro USB cord
3. In preview mode you can select and delete multiple clips/alerts (unlike YI home camera 2 please make that available this one as well)
4. 2 way audio
5 Alarm/siren
6 It shows you only the clip where the motion is detected but saves the entire clip
7. You could scroll through the time and see when motion occurred. There are red bars to indicate exactly when motion occurred, very nice feature!

If you only have one camera then it is fine but If you have multiple cameras (which I think most people would) then you have to click each camera to see the live view which defeats the purpose of having multiple surveillance cameras.

Here are a few App improvements that I would like to see:
1. YI Home App needs to have a preview mode where you could glance all the cameras at the same time (see pictures below).
2. App ask only once for finger print/code to preview any camera. Currently the app is set up in a way that If you have lock enabled then you have to scan the fingerprint or enter the code separately for each camera.
3. During night mode the motion sensor goes off every time a bug flies in front of the camera which is annoying and then you have 20 motion detection alerts when you wake up.
4. Control the alarm/siren on demand currently you could have it on so it will go off every time it detects motion or off when it stays silent.

I hope the app developers get to see the feedback from its customers and make some improvements.
Still a good camera though.

I am a very critical reviewer and I like these. So far the software is working out good for me. It is very adjustable to meet your needs. I uploaded a sample video clip I got from my camera this morning. This is my cat, Snowball. I love seeing her on my camera and knowing what she is doing when she is outside. It makes me smile every time. Hopefully, my cat is all I'll ever see.
I installed mine over the garage eave, so it goes off whenever I pull in and out of my driveway and that's a great way to let you know its working.
The first camera I got made a crackling sound through the microphone, so when I saw the price drop, I ordered 2 more of these and sent the original back in case it was defective. I'm not sure, but like I said, I reordered 2 of them and am happy with them.
It gets very windy in my area so the real test will be to see how it holds up in the wind and adverse weather conditions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask because when I was shopping for a camera I went through about 4 different ones before I
found this one so I know it can be confusing. This uses wifi and I have 5G and it connected ok. Who knows, I might even buy a 3rd one.

Working great so far. Install was extremely easy including getting the app set up. Must be within range of your WiFi signal and AC (power). App is working great as of now and the motion detection is excellent, I get alerts right away. Only false triggers have been snow flakes and my motion light turning on/off, which i find acceptable. Expect to pay $50/yr (min) in addition unless you only want to use the live view, as the 6 second clips are useless. Not a big deal to me.

Edit -
One camera in particular has a 50/50 shot of working or giving me a "fail to load video" / "no sd card detected" . Will happen intermittently with other cameras as well. Usually right at the time I wanted to check , has missed delivery guys going to the back door, etc. Have yet to receive a response from their non existent customer service. They are still nice to have but the lack of consistency sucks after paying for cameras + a year subscription to the cloud services . Be aware support does not exist 👎
