I have tried multiple mouth guards and eventually gave in and purchased one from my dentist for $600. After 3 years my son's dog chewed it and I was informed that the price was now $800. My insurance policies declined to cover it each time (different companies) and so I began the search again for a mouth guard that would fit, was comfortable, and was reasonably priced. The guard from my dentist only fit over my top front teeth and although that design is not available OTC, my engineer mind said "why not cut down a longer guard?" Hmmm.... At the inexpensive price of these guards and 4 chances to get one right I felt it was worth a shot. The guard came to me so long that there was no way I could use it as is anyway, so I used a razor blade and cut it down to the approximate size I needed. 20seconds in boiling water, a few seconds to let it cool, and I popped it in my mouth and sucked in to form it to my mouth and teeth. It came out perfect. I used a sponge file to soften a couple of sharp edges and voila! I saved myself $788. I can make three more before I have to spend more money since this one is thick enough I only need one for the same fit and effect as the one my dentist custom made for me. I wish someone would start making this type of guard in the short version (which my dentist swears is best). It is so much more comfortable without as much bulk in the mouth and it shifts the pressure to the front part of the mouth which is not as strong as the clench the back of the jaw can accomplish. Highly recommend this guard!
Thin & fits so nicely

Haven't tried it for an extended time -yet.. but already love how slim & fitting this is ! It's hard to find nicely fitting night guards. I placed it beside a cheap mouth guard for sports.
Material wasn't the best.

Guards were different sizes. The thicker one completely obliterated after 17secs in hot water. The second one is so thick, it's barely molding. For $11 bucks I'm not surprised, but I just wish it wasn't a complete waste.

Try to trim this BEFORE boiling. I had to reboil one of them twice, once because I trimmed and the edge was sharp, and once because there was a large lip pressing into my gums on the inside of my teeth. Otherwise, this has been a huge help for me. I'm waiting on the dentist guard, just because I'm already waiting on it, and I'm curious to see if it's any better.
