Previously I purchased the 1080P indoor P2 and was happy about that
Amazon Customer•July 26, 2017
This is my second Dericam security camera. Previously I purchased the 1080P indoor P2 and was happy about that. So I bought this outdoor one and mounted to monitor my front grass. Until now the camera work well for one month so I would share my review here.
Â
Pros:
1)Â The housing and package looks high quality.
2)Â Set up easily as the indoor camera. Power on camera, connect with router via Ethernet cable, search camera on App and then add it. Video image will pop up right away.
3)Â 4x optical zoom really amazing.
4)Â 960P image is clear enough for me. I do not want spend double or more just for upgrading to a 1080P camera.
5)Â Freely access the camera via App and PC browser, and clearly to understand most of the features.
6)Â Contacted the support and get helpful reply within few hours. Ms. Amber is really modest and profession for their products.
7)Â Cheaper price than many other similar products.
Â
Some suggestions for the manufacturer:
1)Â The power cable is not so long enough for me. It will be better if the extension cord could be included.
2)Â Description for several App icons are not easy to understand. Maybe I am not the tech people.

Camera has excellent coverage range
Amazon Customer•May 29, 2017
Camera has excellent coverage range. Up/down tilt coverage is as expected. 90 degrees. Can look straight ahead, and tilt to straight down. But left/right pan is actually a full 360 degrees. For this reason I custom made a bracket and mounted it on an outside corner of my house, so instead of only getting 180 degrees of coverage if mounted flat to a wall, I can get 270 and see around both corners. Mounting them this way, if you had a rectangle shaped building, you could get 100% exterior coverage with only 2 cameras. I am going to buy 2 more cameras and mount them in the back of my house (not a rectangle shape) to be able to monitor each entrance full time, with the option to plan to view other parts of my yard.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find out it has an optical zoom built into the camera as well. In additional to the apps ability to digitally zoom. I am not sure how often (if ever) I will use that feature, but it is a nice unexpected bonus. Cameras resolution is very good on my phone. I have it mounted 2 stories up, and I can easily identify who is at my front door or in my driveway. The night vision works well too. It is obviously not as clear as daylight viewing, but is still remarkably clear. You can actually see a spotlight in the area you are viewing that is not visible to he naked eye, so the IR lights are pretty bright.
The Dericam app is also pretty easy to use and straightforward. I already had an indoor Dericam, and adding this outdoor one was very easy. Literally took under 1 minute to add this camera.
My only complaint thus far would be that I believe they should have offered a selection of mounting options to take full advantage of the cameras pan range. it is designed to mount flush to a wall(which again, limits you to 180 degrees of view) but adding some type of corner bracket or ceiling mount bracket would have made my installation easier. I am somewhat handy and making a bracket for corner mounting was not much trouble, but someone who is not or does no t have the proper tools might find it difficult to mount it to a corner like I did. But I would and will buy this camera again.

Impressive outdoor security camera
Sheanne•April 29, 2017
I purchased this outdoor camera together with Dericam P2 indoor camera to strengthen my home security as our community had a burglary early this year. The item came in with impressive looking and solid build. It fits perfect to a modern house design compared to a regular surveillance camera. Setting up the camera itself is easy and straight forward following the well written instructions. However, installation may take some time depending on the wall configuration. Every penny and effort spent on this little gadget is worthwhile! Viewing angle is super wide and it can be easily adjusted using the smartphone apps without physical movement. The video and picture quality is clear and crispy with higher dynamic range than what I expected at this price. As an outdoor camera, the motion detection feature with email notification is very useful with 3 level of sensitivity (I set to the lowest level but it is still a bit sensitive). Night vision is quite impressive even in complete darkness. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this purchase. The only complaint is the included power cord is too short. A 10 feet extension cord is absolutely necessary for outdoor installation without pre-wiring.
It was very easy to get the camera set up using the Dericam ...
Amazon Customer•April 9, 2017
I have had this camera for probably 2 weeks now. It was very easy to get the camera set up using the Dericam phone app and the picture is clear and sharp; even the black and white images at night. It took me a little time to get the FTP service working, but once I figured what the root directory of my server was, it works like a charm. I only wish that I could stream continuously to the FTP server and not to the SD card.
Installation was OK with one downside. There is a third screw hole that is right behind the camera dome and it will take a right angled screwdriver to get to it. I have it directly mounted into brick on the remaining two holes and it is pretty secure at the moment, but I think I will have to invest in the right angle screwdriver to affix the third screw. It would have been a better design to use two holes to the side like the top two holes. Also the cable entry points to the camera are at the sides or top. I thought the plate must be upside down because of the cable entry at the top. I have filled this with silicone sealant as I fear water will get in there.
The motion detection is extremely sensitive even on low setting. During the day I had to point it away from foliage that was blowing in the wind. Even cars and people walking past in the distance were enough to set it off. I had to position it just right to avoid the background traffic and moving foliage. At night however, insects are attracted to the red glow of the IR LEDs and so it alarms all night. So I have resorted to scrolling through the snapshots on my FTP server to see if anything showed on the camera instead of reviewing the video; with the intention of reviewing the video if I see something. So far just insects.
Now the real downsides. There are no instructions on how to load the software on the CD. But I found four executables, the Dericam Search tool, a video converter, a video player and the HiP2P Client software. After digging around on the internet I figured that I needed to run the Search tool. I could not for the life of me get that tool to detect my camera. I tried the HiP2P software and it keeps telling me that I have the wrong password. I have tried the default of the camera and also what I set the camera password to. Even when I try to log out of the software it asks for a password and gives the wrong password error.
I resorted to just pointing a web browser at the IP of the camera and I could get to the interface but had no video. So again after digging around on the Internet I figured I needed Firefox or IE. Again no video and again after searching on the Dericam site I found a download for a Firefox/IE plugin. I installed that and still had no video. Rebooted my machine, no video. Uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted. This time I got video in IE, but the Playback tab is only half displayed such that all that is visible in the word "Playback" is "Play". There is still no video in Firefox.
I tried to remote access and had the exact same results in that I can get to the interface but have no video. I also would like to replace the SD card with a larger capacity card but could find no instructions on how to do this. It appears that the camera will have to be taken apart to do this

Recent Purchase and pretty good testing
Amazon Customer•March 17, 2017
Many things I like about this cam, probably the best yet at p2p, it works and works great. Image resolutions are awsome, setup a snap. Tech support actually very good, very responsive, had issue with connecting to earthlink email. Mobile app good, would be excellent if it had the ptz controls like TinycamPro. Installing a little clunky getting access to screws was more difficuly than should be, no big deal though.
I will be buying more of these wifi ptz cams in near future, can't go wrong.
OOPs, just had issue with Firefox's most recent security upgrade, lost my Dericam video but works on Chrome, IE and android app? Might be issue with Fire Fox???
