Arrived on time. I'm a smoker (cigarettes, what were you thinking?), and the smoke used tovwaft in the air of my studio apartment like floating sheets. Now? All gone. I can have baked garlic and anchovies for dinner and, within 15 minutes, you'd never know (unless you kissed me, of course). Whisper quiet unless on the highest setting.

Four stars instead of five because the "air quality sensor", which supposedly adjusts strings based on air quality, is . . . eccentric. A summo wrestler could fart straight at the machine and it wouldn't notice. But in the middle of the night -- no smoking, no cooking, nothing -- it will decide the air is foul and turn on high. Always curious: just what does it sense? Sound sleep?

Sleep mode : 3.7w = $3.89/yr
level 1: 5.7w = $6.00/yr
level 2: 7.7w = $8.10/yr
level 3: 12.1w = $12.72/yr
level 4: 69.5w = $73.06/yr

Don't forget these are costs for 24 hours a day. If you run the 12 hour timer, your prices will be nearly half that posted here.
Level 4 is a Turbo mode which will super succ the air so it is high wattage for good reason. When you turn on Turbo mode you know why it the wattage is that higher.
This Winix 5300-2 model is also Energy Star certified for good reason.
Of course your mileage may vary on these costs as these are just averages. But you're likely to be on level 1 most of the time unless you live in a smoggy/smokey area. These energy costs should convince you to run your air purifier 24/7 unless you're really tight for money.

I just changed one of the black carbon filters cause it was getting very dusty. Amazed at how much dust this thing picked up in the short 4 months I had it!

This Air Cleaner is a work horse. It's silent. If you have it on full, 4 fans it really moves the air.

I have been using it for a few days now, I am extremely happy.

I just moved into a 8 unit Apartment Building where I am surrounded by Cigarette smoke.

I cannot even begin to the suffering. The main common area is a literal ashtray. My entrance/exit
door walks out to this area. The cig smoke creeps in under and around my door.
The Winix has sensor lights that show your air quality. Blue: You alive and well
Amber: lets get to cleaning Red: You a fish yanked from your bowl, dying.

I turned my Winix on first time, it was RED for nearly 15 mins. I wasn't shocked.
I ran it for 2 hours, moved it around. I was on it's 4th placement. I was Blue now in all 3 areas it ran.
I set it in my bedroom, it was RED for 10 mins, this to tell me there is another way the Cig smoke is channeling
itself in my apt. I moved in healthy. In 2 days I was dog sick, couldn't breathe, sore throat, coughing my brains out.

I am no means a saint, I smoked 30 years, have been tobacco free going on 3 yrs.
I have lived in a smoke free environment for the last 3 yrs. The building isn't Smoke Free. The smoke triggered
me something awful, I feel like I am quitting smoking all over again, the hacking, the sore throat, on and on.

72 hours of running Winex, My air is so amazing clear and clean. I am SO Happy. My health has improved
big time. Not only this, My plants were crashing and burning, droopy and sad, nothing was perking them up.

I love it so much I bought another right away. I run these 24/7 in my 400 square foot living room and a slightly smaller bedroom. I have animals and since I started using these, there's a lot less dust and dander on the floor and other surfaces. I love the pre- filter..mainly because I can see the dust it's filtered out of the air and it's very gratifying (yes, it gets alot and I vacuum more than once a day),but also because it just works, and well. The pre filter is easy to clean (I use s Dyson dust attachment). The air just feels cleaner. It's not particularly noisy, about the same noise level as a large box fan. It's better looking than its predecessor (5200). I recommend not buying the OEM filters though, I found the non branded generic work just as well, at half the price...which matters especially when you are running 4 of these around the clock. Arrived as promised and was well packed.

Unlike the previous version where each speed level was incrementally louder, this version is either silent or turbo--very little in between. Not good for using as white noise. Also covered with bright LED lights that can't be dimmed unless in silent mode. This may be fine for some people but I saw this model as a downgrade from the previous version.
