Nice but the sensor doesn't open....

It's a nice little unit but since it has a solid circular ring (instead of a claw) I can't check for current without cutting or removing the wire from the circuit to be tested. I should have looked more closely before buying it.

Love the Ammeter portion, the voltmeter on mine was 0.2v off making it useless to me, but not a factor as I would never have alowed it to display voltage anyway. I extended the 6 foot 3 wire ribbon cable with about 6 feet of 22 gauge in the middle. It did not throw off the amperage readings.
There is only 0.2 amps resolution. If you require more precision than this then either wrap the cable through the ring more times and do some math, or use a shunted ammeter.

This simple monitor works well in my travel trailer 12Vdc system. It is used to monitor charge and discharge current and voltage levels of the batteries. I installed the monitor display next to the DC panel, and used the longer 5Ft current sensor cable to connect the current probe behind the DC panel. Make sure to keep access to the "zero" button for calibrating the current meter-located behind the display. I observe +/- 100mA , +/- 0.1 V accuracy in this system. A useful and economical sensor!

This is a very cool device. Fits over my 1/0 cable with room to spare. I like that the sensor has a coupler vs being connected at both ends, as so many components are today. It makes pulling the wire easier. I recommend this instrument and the seller as well. Great service.

Works as advertised. Conveniently comes with short and long probe wire. When measuring small currents the .2 amp flicker can be distracting. Wrapping 10 turns can improve this if all you want is small currents. The voltage is accurate, but have not measured the accuracy of the current reading. Is not a clamp on device.
