Beware.

I was so happy to find these gloves and they appeared to work well for removing very hot pans from the oven. They are thick, however, the way they are constructed seems to have padding for the palm of your hands/fingers and the top of your hand/fingers. It does NOT seem to have padding to protect the sides of your fingers from heat. So if you are bending your hand/fingers to grab a hot pan, there is a chance and good likelihood that the interior padding will roll or be off center from your finger and at least one of your digits will have only a thin layer of fabric for protection. My coworker was severely burned by a 500 degree pan when this happened only days after first use. Upon inspection of the glove I could easily see how she was burned. This was unacceptable and could have easily resulted in greater injury. I have returned these and will seek a glove that protects all parts/sides of my hand.

Get rid of your leather welding/fireplace gloves

I do use these gloves for anything except as oven gloves. I can remember when I discovered leather welding/fireplace gloves. Thought they were the best thing I'd ever found. But I regularly face situations where I have to remove dutch ovens, full roasting pans and such at temperatures up to 500 F. With leather gauntlets, I run a serious risk of burning my hands. With these gloves I cannot even tell that I am lifting a hot object. Extraordinary. Some care is required to fit them to your hands the first time you put them on. Once accomplished, it is never a problem again. Just the peace of mind at Thanksgiving when I lift 35-40 lbs of turkey, dressing and roasting pan at 450F makes these gloves invaluable to me. This is my second pair for my lake cabin, so I don't need to worry about forgetting them when I pack. My first pair are holding up beautifully. I anticipate many, many years of use. I wish I had found these years ago.
