These are exact hats so measurement is a fuss. The quality has somewhat lessen as to years ago. Nevertheless, the quality is still above the average rest of manufacturers. Yes, it is endurable. Your two year old can stomp and sit on it and the hat won't wrinkle up like a beaten grape. Wide brim for shade. Mine was slightly large. I bought a sweat headband soak it in cold water and wear the hat. Works cool wonders!

Great hat just not as great as the original. It's the little things that matter, when compared to the original this newer versions don't have the following:
1- little strap to hold the neck strings inside the roof of the hat when not in use.
2- the snapon buttons to hold brim in place are not made of brass and lack the maple leaf of the Canadian flag.
3- the inside sweat guard is not made of cotton but from another material. It's still very good.
4- no place to write your name or plastic bag in the secret pocket.

It just seems that Tilley cut some corners to save costs.
They are still the best hats out there. I've been using them for over a decade and each one lasts over 4 years of heavy use, rain, salt water, sun ect...
The prewashed look is great. I used to have to buy them white and dye them. Now they come ready to use.

First Tilley hat. Great hat will be wearing this for a long time! Should have bought one years ago. Shipped faster than expected.
