Wow! This is a super apron!! I was getting desperate to replace my old denim apron that I have worn off and on for decades, mostly off....when the string got to irritating my neck. I came close to getting some old sail canvas from a friend of mine and making my own, well until I found the Hudson product. I bought the gray one and I am very pleased. The apron is very comfortable. I like the reinforced places and the many pockets so I don't have to go looking for my pen, ruler, knife, etc. It is long enough and wide enough to keep my clothing protected. I consider this to be not just an apron, but part of my essential tools. I have had if for just over a week and put it through the test ground. I do mostly wood work, but also some stained glass jobs, and a bit of metal work too. This apron has stood up to everything without any complaints or problems.

They also mean XL when they say XL, but thankfully with the way the straps work on this one the sizing is very easily adjusted.
Pockets galore for anything and everything. No worries on my part of a pocket maybe ripping from being over lodead. I've hung a pnuematic nailer off of a pocket with no issues.
For those curious and particular few, for reference an iPhone X and a standard pencil (not carpenter's pencil) will juuuust fit in the top breast pocket if you slip them in right. I would seriously doubt a bigger, say iPhone Plus sized phone or something of the sorts would fit, let alone with a pencil too.

This is apron is absolutely awesome! It's super tough! The heavy canvas will last a very long time! It's even comfortable! I used it for 8 hours hanging sheet rock and never once felt like I wanted to take it off, like I do with tool belts. That's exactly why I bought it. I used the hammer loop and it works great. It supports the weight of it really well and keeps it close to your body. I actually forgot I had one hanging there! Another cool thing was that my drill has a little belt clip on it and it slid perfectly into the pen pocket. Being close to my chest, it didn't swing around or even feel like it was going to fall out. It was like a chest rig the military uses to hold their weapons close to there chest lol.
There is a couple of things I would change just to make it even more awesome.
1. I'd step up the straps to a thicker, softer material, like a seat belt. They weren't bad, but could just be better. A bigger buckle would be good too.
2. I'd add 1-3 more little pockets between the top pen and paper pocket and the pouches. Just something to hold a carpet knife; screwdriver; wire cutters; etc.
3. I'd also add a tape measure clip so that you can clip it on with one hand. You can clip it you a pouch, but it takes more effort than it should.
This apron is TOTALLY worth the money! BUY. IT. You won't regret it!

Awesome apron! I have had experience with aprons as a woodworker before this and most didn't stand up to the task, were too uncomfortable and simply held wood debris too much.
This apron is anything but that. Super comfortable the way it crosses on back. Easy to put on and clean. Debris simply doesnt stick to this waxed canvas apron. Price point is awesome...i dare you to find a better performing apron cheaper. Multiple functional pockets...i could go on and on.
I just put this apron through the ringer for a weekend class learning traditonal blacksmithing at a coal fired forge. It perfomed flawlessly in conditions using fire and steel exceeding 1700 degrees fh.

I purchased this apron as a Christmas gift for my wife, who really wanted an apron but wanted something a bit more durable than your standard linen. So I took to amazon to see what they had to offer. I'm a "buy once" kind of guy, and kept coming back to the Hudson brand. You can see the quality of material used, adjustability and versatility of this garment. So I took a chance. Although it may look like something you would wear in a welding shop or garage, it works great in the kitchen. The pockets were a plus and adjustable neck when you tighten won't bother or irritate you, which I couldn't find in other aprons. I was a bit taken aback by the weight when it arrived, but it was packaging of of a quality garment. When it's in folded and worn, it hardly feels that heavy. Bottom line, my wife loves it, and that's all that matters. I suggest if this is to be worn in the kitchen, run it through the washer a few times and hang dry, to take the stiffness out. You may lose some color, but it won't be so ridged. Or just use as is.
