Fixed the slow speed turn clunking in a 2003 Subaru Baja. Don't forget P/N 33179AA030 to avoid having to use gasket maker to seal up the rear case cover.
Saved me from having to spend a lot more getting a JDM transmission

So, I knew there was something wrong with my transmission, made a whirring noise no matter whether I turning, didn't have it in gear, clutch pedal pushed in, the faster I go the worse the noise would get.

My clutch needed to be replaced so I did that and while i did that i decided it'd be a good time to take apart the transmission. I noticed somebody else had been inside the transmission before (there was red seal silicon).

Long story short, i figured out the center diff was bad, the gears were loose and i was able to move them around by hand. Ordered this and it was a great fit. HOWEVER I believe that there is a break in period, for around 1000 miles it made a high pitch whine, every 100 or so miles the noise would get quieter. Now it doesn't make the noise at all. Apparently this is also a dealer only product.

Holding up well after 6 months. Fixed the problem (hard knocking/jerking in slow turns) in my 2011 WRX.
Cured all my problems and was easy to install

Kinda expensive, but well worth it if your center diff has shat the proverbial bed, which they will do if abused -e-brake turns and such, which are verboten in an AWD Subaru- run with different sized tires, or just old. The internet sages say these things aren't very robust, and die around 100k anyway, so they're sort of a maintenance item. The bearing on my old one had a tiny bit of slop, this new one had none. 100kmi on my old unit. Unfortunately, there's no affordable upgrade, so most folks are stuck just replacing the OEM unit.

The DPO of my recently-new-to-me WRX wagon ran one new replacement tire, along with three other half-used tires. Guess what? Fried the center diff's delicate viscous fluid, I guess. Subarus need all tires the exact same, seriously! I put on a new set of Michelins as soon as I got the car, but I still had nasty sounds on turning, especially trying to accelerate out of a sharp turn- warpy starship engine wah-Wah-WAH-Wah-wah vibrations- and when I went over a sharp pavement break one time, the center diff flat screamed, like a loud arrrgh sound as the car pitched back to front, and that's when I knew. Bad center diff.

Got this, had my local shop put it in along with the Group N trans mount, and Kartboy trans mount bushings while we were at it. You can maybe do it yourself, but it's a beast without a lift, so I had the shop do it. Yup, problem solved. Right after that, I did the rear end, put in Kartboy outrigger bushings, subframe bolts, diff mounts, and changed rear diff fluid. Took it for a drive, and wow. Fun! No bad vibes. If you've got 100kmi, and you're getting weird driveline vibrations upon turning, consider your center diff.

Fast shipping, good packaging, sealed Subaru part, works great. Xlnt.
