Our eyes change as we age, and technically oriented consumers, can make good use of a such a meter to insure safe and appropriate light levels in their homes. This is a perfectly satisfactory tool for evaluating lighting conditions around the home and neighborhood. Good set of features and reasonable accuracy for an aggressive price.

The item is good for the price paid. I had trouble removing the battery compartment cover. The cover doesn't just slide off like a tv remote's cover. The cover has a tiny screw that needs to be removed before you can slide the cover off. In my opinion the screw is not needed.

This thing is great for the price. Nice build quality, and it works well, it's easy to read and easy to use. There's no way for me to reference the absolute value of the Lumen or Footcandle readings, but the relative readings seem correct. I did a little experiment - I measured 7 GE incandescent bulbs, a 15w, 25w, 40w, 60w, 75w, 100w, and 200w...and the Lumen readings for each bulb were linearly proportional, just like you'd expect.

A cheap and simple light meter that just works for me. The removable part is pretty flimsy, and I don't expect the cable recoil to last long. But for my purposes (houseplant hobby) this works perfectly.
