Key features

  • Low Power Consumption : The system is built using highly sensitive low power consumption components, maintaining high receiver sensitivity, while consuming as little as one tenth the power of a standard FM system, dramatically extending battery life.
  • Bidirectional Communication : Capable of sending and receiving data, each transmitter is capable of receiving data from temperature, altitude and many other types of sensors, servo calibration and i-BUS Support.
  • Multi-channel Hopping Frequency : This systems width ranges from 2.4055GHz to 2.475GHz. This is divided in 140 channels. Each transmitter hops between 16 channels (32 for Japanese and Korean versions) in order to reduce interference from other transmitters.
  • Omni-directional Gain Antenna : The high efficiency Omni-directional high gain antenna cuts down on interference, while using less power and maintaining a strong reliable connection.
  • Unique ID Recognition System : Each transmitter and receiver has its own unique ID. Once the transmitter and receiver have been paired, they will only communicate with each other, preventing other systems accidentally connecting to or interfering with the system's operation.

The truth about this radio
J. LorenzoJanuary 3, 2018
This is as honest as a review can get on this. I've been flying fpv for over a year now, and I can tell you I started out flying with this radio. It is an extremely easy radio to get working, and very easy to configure, but once my skills started improving, I really wanted more from a radio. The main problem I had was with the lag of using PPM (the type of connection between radio and receiver) and the short range that the radio was capable of. I had several failsafes using it. Also much was left to be desired from the gimbals. After a few months the gimbals were not centering properly and when I would fly I would never be able to keep a straight line because of it. After a while this controller became unbearable to use for my skill level and it was annoying to even try to use it. A few months later I purchased an FrSky Taranis QX7, which let me tell you is only $40 more than this radio, with waaayyyy better gimbals and waaaayyyyy better range. It felt a hundred times more profesional and really pleased me in every aspect I needed to keep on progressing as an FPV pilot. If you want the absolute cheapest way into FPV, buy this radio, if you don't care about some horrific lag (that has caused me to crash several times), buy this radio, if you don't care about cheap gimbals that wouldn't center after a few months use, buy this radio. If you want to be stuck with one possible receiver that barely fits into most quads nowadays, buy this receiver. That's another thing. There's only one receiver you can buy that will bind to it. And it's gigantic (compared to the size of other receivers). It's ahout the size of a matchbox, and trust me, there is nothing more convenient in a build than just having a small receiver and not having to worry about placing it somewhere where it might fit. So if you accept all these facts and still would like to buy this radio, go ahead. I'm not stopping you. But remember, an FrSky Taranis QX7 is only $40 more, and makes a world of a difference ;)
Good for beginners, nothing wrong with controller. Possibly very old stock from this vendor.

Good starter controller. Once I learn more and get better I'll probably want to upgrade but for an initial investment it gets the job done and looks good doing it. From everything I have read the newer version of this comes with the throttle spring already removed and the throttle tensioner installed. They also come with the LCD holder. This came with neither. I had to remove the throttle spring and make my own tensioner with some aluminum from a can. I have since ordered the LCD holder and correct tensioner from somewhere else since I couldn't find them here. It also ships with very old firmware. You'll have to search a little but the latest firmware can be found online. Once upgraded there is a new menu and many more options and features. I think this is very old stock but that doesn't take away from the controller itself. Just get the parts you need and the firmware and you'll have everything you were supposed to get. Sort of disappointed I didn't know all of this earlier, but live and learn.
This is the best controller under 150

For sixty bucks, this is a great value! I use it for a robot car; I only need gas and steer from the left/right sticks, but I also need the other switches to change various modes (whether in manual/auto drive mode, whether to turn on/off camera recording, e-brake, lights, adjustment, and so forth.)
The receiver it comes with outputs 6 channels of PWM data, but it also has a serial port that outputs 10 channels of data at 115,200 bps. I find reading the serial data much more robust than PWM, anyway, so this is a fantastic option (google "ibus" to find the spec -- it's very simple!)

The one caveat is that it eats batteries. Four AAs only last a few hours, which is a problem when using it on the bench for development. It has a USB input to use it as a USB game controller (!) but it still needs battery power to run, it doesn't run off USB when plugged in. There is no re-chargeable option, which I think is a real bummer. I ended up soldering in an external power input and plugged it into a 10000 mAh power bank.
New to FPV and on a budget? This should be your first radio.

I bought this because it had a USB port and decent receiver compatibility/support. The USB port works WELL with PC and Android simulators - no extra stuff required. Also a pretty decent radio on its own merits; It's basically a repackaged Turnigy Evo with more switches.
Can't beat it!!!!!!!!!

This is by far the best for the money. Also I didn't see anywhere that said it came with the friction plate I can't explain how happy I was to see it in the package. Big thanks to the seller!!!
