Disappointing taste

I normally grind my own coffee and use a french press, but sometimes I don't feel like going through the routine for a quick cup. In comes instant coffee. I realize taste is very subjective but this is one of the worst instant coffees I have tasted. It has a strong burnt aftertaste. I returned it and picked up a cheap grocery store house brand instead, which has a much smoother finish.
