Not going to be as good as light room or some of the more expensive editing software but very solid. Has many of the same key tools. A bit slow however, and the picture being displayed in the program is slightly off of what it looks like in other viewing programs which is frustrating because I have to go back and retouch sometimes because I thought a picture looked they way I wanted it to but it really didn't. Good HDR program as well.

I wrote this review because I am a photographer that actually understands what Aftershot Pro 3 is for, is not a Vine reviewer, and I was serious about the product when I bought it. I am glad that Amazon attempted to get reviews for the program by giving free copies for review; however, I became frustrated by the lack of reviews on this product and the quality of some of the reviews. When I saw reviews that complained that it didn't have a guided mode or was difficult to learn I was frustrated because these reviews don't belong with this product. This product is targeted at those that use Adobe Lightroom. It is meant for hobbyist and pro's or semi- pro photographers. The mom and dad looking to edit a kids birthday party photos should look for another product. When one is shooting events large amounts of photos are generated. It isn't strange to get 300 photos from an event. Those shooting events need a way to quickly process these large amounts of photos. That is who this product is for. Those that shoot events will quickly be able to use this software. The interface is similar to all the other products like this. I saw one review in which the reviewer suggested a book be included with the software. Software companies have stop providing manuals in book form since the early 1990's. That comment told me that the reviewer hasn't bought software in years and is out of touch with current practice. Nevertheless, Corel has a PDF manual on its website for Aftershot Pro 3 that you can download to read. Despite knowing that software companies don't provide manuals anymore, I do agree with the reviewer that wanted one. There aren't any books on Aftershot Pro 3 and Corel should make the PDF in book form. I have several books on Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Elements and have pulled them out on several occasions to find information. Having a book will make Aftershot Pro 3 and easier choice for those trying to decide on switching from Lightroom or another program.

I bought this software because Adobe no longer sells Lightroom as a product that can be purchased. I didn't want to get a subscription to Creative Cloud. I gave the software a four star because for its cost and what it can do, it is ok. I was tempted to give it three stars. I have found a bug in the Mac version that I reported to Corel. The customer servie has been good. Corel gets back to me in a timely fashion. The software generally works well. It is not as polish as Lightroom. However, it works. The program is fast. One reviewer commented that the software changes the file extension name to xmp. That is not true. Both Adobe products and Corel can use xmp files. These files are where the changes that you make are stored. You shouldn't try to open them. There will be the original raw file and then a file with the same name but with a xmp extension.

I have used the software several times on my hobby projects. However, when it was time to edit a paid job, I used Lightroom.

I tried to use the HDR function twice and both times I was very disappointed. I used the HDR function on Printshop Pro and assumed that this one would be just as good. Twice the photos came out vey black. I ran the same photos through Photoshop Elements and it was able to combine them.

Does a good job editing pictures.
