A little goes a long way

I bought this because Talon didn't make a pre-cut grip for a couple of my Kahr polymer pistols. It turned out that I didn't really need full coverage -- I just needed something to go over the too-aggressive checkering that Kahr puts on the front and back straps, which makes those guns uncomfortable to shoot more than a few times.
It couldn't be easier to use: Measure, cut, press on, heat over a gas burner (to set the adhesive). And the guns have a whole different feel. I recommend this to all my friends who have polymer pistols with hand-shredding checkering. If I'd known about these sheets earlier, I could have saved money on full grip covers!

I like my laptop but love it even more now it doesn't come off my hand while holding it.

Like everyone else that came here to check this patch...Indeed I was curious. I own a fabulous laptop and a cellphone and both of them are just too slippery and slips out of my hands often. With visible dings here and there...my laptop is not looking as nice as it once was. Maybe I have butterfingers but I swear its not my fault. I cut 2X 1"x5" and tape it on both side of my laptop. Now, I feel much more confident about holding my laptop in my hands without seeing any more dings than it needs. As for my phone, I cut a 2X .10"x4" strip and stuck it to both sides of my phone. The difference is night and day with this grip strip! I can literally hold my cell phone with one hand without any problem and feel confident. I understand the grip patch is in black and thankfully both my cellphone and laptop are in black. As for other people...I might even suggest painting over the grip to get matching color for nonblack product.
Used on a BP40CC and looks better than pre-cut.

So finally had the time to make my grips for my BP40CC. I used blue tape as a template for one half of the grip (use the poly mating lines) and then mirrored it for the other side, added a length that would wrap all the way around the finger side and half way back across the left grip. This would keep my fingers from catching the edge and causing premature lifting/peeling of the edge. If left at the finger area, right palm swell (left for lefties) or rear of the grip, your fingers and/or hand will constantly be rubbing on the seam and cause early lifting of the edge. Remember this as I feel its the second most common reason for early failure and why I dont really like the 'pre-cut' grip tapes.
I then cut the shape with a scalpel as one continuous piece. Cleaned the grip and gun with a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol, then the grip area again, again with a clean paper towel, making absolutely sure to get it very clean in all the little dips and valleys in the stippling. This is probably the most important part and the #1 cause of a great many of failures. Get it CLEAN.
I then slowly wrapped it around the grip, starting at the left finger center line, matching it to the contours and lines as I went. Use a hairdryer on Hot temp, Low air to make the tape a little more pliable and easier to manage. Only takes a couple of seconds of heat. Dont press down on the tape at this point, however, as you may need to reposition it. I ended up needing relief cuts at the top and bottom of the rear grip (butt). Just cut 2 shallow 'vees'. It would have pleated (folded) if I didnt, especially at the bottom, but that one was small enough that it closed back up.
Once done, heat up the tape with the hairdryer and press it down firmly. I used about 20 seconds of heat per area, then did it again this time making sure it contoured to the front and rear stippling grooves with my finger nails. Just 'cause I liked it, not that you have too.
I then cut out the thumb areas, again using blue tape, and applied those.
See pics.
Only been a few days, but I have more than a dozen draws on it, and so far its holding up. Feels good in the hand and definitely gives a better grip. Feel much more comfortable shooting now.
edit: re-uploaded pics. Not sure where they went.

If you have scissors, a box cutter and 30 min of time, there is no reason to pay twice as much for the pre-cut grips!

I decided to get this product instead of the pre-cut Talon grips for my G20, for two main reasons:
- I think $20+ is a bit too much for the regular Talon grips
- I wanted the rubberized material to ride a bit higher on the pistol grips than how it is with the pre-cut Talon grips
So, when I saw I could just buy a sheet of the exact same material for half the price, I was thrilled! So I got this Talon sheet, a pair of scissors, a box cutter, and around 30 minutes of my time, and what I made actually exceeded my expectations! Not only I was able to have the material ride as high as I wanted, but I was also able to mold it perfectly to the finger grooves on the stock Glock grips. You just need to take your time, cut a rough shape with the scissors and then cut off the excess where needed. If there is some overlapping part that you would like to get rid of, gently use the box cutter, making sure you are only cutting the rubber layer and not the plastic underneath. And for the weird shapes, like the finger grooves, just use a hair-dryer for 20-30 seconds to make the rubber compound softer, and then you can shape it pretty much however you want.
I'm very happy with the result, it almost looks like something that would come from the factory. And it does help with getting better control on your pistol. I highly recommend it! Please consider leaving me feedback below if you found this review helpful.

These are fantastic, the exact same material as that used on ...
J✓ Verified Purchase•March 10, 2017
These are fantastic, the exact same material as that used on the Talon grips for various pistols. I bought this sheet to cut and use on various other items, but I was unsure about how these would bond with other materials since these are primarily used on polymer frame guns. I'm pleased to say these have worked on every material I have applied them to, including polished stainless steel and titanium on various folding knives. These are also good to add customized texture to other parts of a gun frame, including directly over slide serrations for added traction. I have only used the rubberized texture, I have not tried the granulate for comparison, but the level of traction on these seems about perfect.
