This does what it needs to do: it enables sponges to air dry and thus helps prevent the sponge slime problem. That's already enough to justify a recommendation for this product.....or something like it.

And I'd recommend hunting down something like this rather than buying this particular rack. This rack is both flimsy and quite pricy. For roughly the same price (especially if one uses a coupon from Bed, Bath, & Bewildering), one can get a rack that has more (rust-avoidant) crome, and is thus less flimsy.

My other (fairly) mild criticism: we have to remove this rack before we can wash large dishes or pots. Since we don't have a dishwasher, this means, in practice, that we have to remove the rack most of the time. People who have dishwashers and/or better designed, larger sinks, probably won't have this problem (or will be less annoyed by it.)

This product is great for me due to the small and inconvenient setup of my kitchen sink. because my sink is on such a shallow counter and in front of a window, there is no stable place to put my scrubbers and soap. This helps with that by keeping these items out of the way to dry. I can also see this being great for air drying little parts such as pacifiers, etc.

This item is adjustable to fit small to large sinks. If course if your sink has overly rounded edges, you won't be able to put this unit flush along the edge.

The finish is a very powdery matte look, which is perfect for hiding water spots and soap. There are clear plastic bumpers on each end so the rack wont rest directly on your sink, reducing the risk of scratches. It is adjustable, easy to slide to the right size but stays put.
