Most Reliable Cat Tracker I've Used So Far!
Barbara in Phoenix•September 1, 2017
This has become my go-to tracker to find my cat. I've ordered several other types of (bluetooth) trackers so that I can find my cat more easily to get him inside before dark. They're either too big or don't work well. I've tried the TrackR, the Tile, and a few others. No good. This TabCat took a bit for me to get used to -- but it has turned into my go-to tracker. It comes with the best type of plastic enclosure that threads onto the cat collar -- this way, it doesn't dangle and potentially get caught in something. I have a particularly smart cat and he's a tiny Houdini - he can get out of his collar frequently. With the Tab Cat, I can usually track down where he's managed to "discard" his collar. (I know his tricks and his favorite hang out spots too). If you're anxious about finding your cat and need a reliable tracker, this is the one to go with. It takes a little patience to figure it out and to use it regularly, but it works like a charm. Sometimes I have to walk around my neighborhood to get him in range, but 95% of the time, I can find him. It also beeps, so I think he's trained now that once the collar "rings," he knows that I'm looking for him and it's time to come in. Great product. Would love the next version if it is even a tiny bit smaller. I've got a skinny little cat!
So glad it works!

We've had this for a few weeks now for our kitty that needs his outdoor time. This really helps locate him. You do have to be fairly close (within 100' +/- tho I haven't measured) to get the signal from the locator. It's worked well for him, when I have to got track him he's usually hidden out of sight and this leads me to him. You will have to walk around a bit to get close enough to the tracker if your cat has wondered away, I just walk down the street and that's close enough to pick him up in neighboring yards, etc.

My wife and I purchased the TabCat Pet tracking collar to help us herd our two cats in when it gets dark. After changing the batteries with fresh ones, the product works as advertised. We rounded up both in record time, know one was in the neighbors yard, and the other was still outside and walking up the steps to the house.
One Star

Did not work at all. Had to return...
Excellent, but the new tags are disappointingly sized and it's a little overpriced.

I've been using the TabCat (or Loc8tor lite before it) for well over 2 years. It's a lifesaver for us when it comes to finding our cats. We let our cats out during the day, but like to bring them inside during the evening.
It works like a geiger counter or a game of hot/cold. You point the receiver and the lights flash once it picks up the cat within range. The lights go from a single red light that beeps once a second, to about 8 lights beeping very quickly as you get closer to the cat.
It works with line of sight, so if there is nothing in the way, it will pick you cat up from around 400 feet away. Add trees and bushes or houses in the way, then that distance is reduced.
We live in a rural area, with small woods and empty fields - we can usually tell if they are in the woods without having to venture into them because we'll get a single beep.
It works very well, but I'm deducting one star for both the price (I think it's a little expensive for what it is) and because the previous tags were far superior in terms of size and profile on the cats collar. The new tags are a little big in my opinion, and tabcat should seriously think about offering the smaller tags as an option.
