For the money you cant beat this bike. Was looking to spend a lot more but like most dads i spend most of my rides with my kids and I am not going on 100 mile rides or down mountains. Highly recommend!
THIS IS A BITCHEN BIKE

I've had my Trek since 2003 - took very good care of it - great condition just gave to veteran - in market to upgrade and came across this bike - it's not that i didn't want to spend $400+ for hybrid bike but I just couldn't justify the $450 to $550 bikes after seeing this one and reading all the reviews - I spent some time in the Trek store the other day and the sales kid was fantastic - The bike he was showing me was a very good apple to apple comparison - That Trek however was $418 for a 2016 and $480 for a 2017 - There's no way you can put these two bikes side by side and say this one is cheaply made - I live here in terrible San Diego and like to ride 12 to 18 miles around the beach area - I also went to six different bike shops besides Trek looking at features and specs of other bikes all in the $400 to $600 range - THIS IS A GREAT BIKE! I'm thinking of upgrading the rear and front derailleurs if there's any question as to their smooth shifting or not and even then the bike is still a hit for this price - Why spend for a bike manufactures lease on his building, advertising and marketing when this bike is priced where those others should be - Check out the independant reviews like I did and you'll agree this is one heck of a great deal! Oh, I put it together in 30 minutes and then dropped it off at a bike shop and paying for all to be adjusted and tuned up - The guy at the shop was truly amazed at the quality of this bike and it only weighs 26 pounds too - Of course the next few months I will give an update. Mahalo!
Love the bike

Love the bike. I bought this as a cross training option on days I don't run and I am very satisfied with the performance. It is so much lighter than the older big chain store mountain bike I was riding. All the controls function smoothly and the brakes are excellent. Be careful when applying them if you are used to standard bike brake as I have found them to be much stronger and I could imagine they could lead to pitch overs if one were not used to them.
I had it assembled and tuned at my local bike shops and the mechanic was amazed when I told him what I had paid. I would definitely recommend this bike forever rnanyone looking at something between a true road racing bike or a mountain bike!

A great pleasure to ride

This bike is more than I dared to hope for. Out of the box the small finishing touches were simple to complete. Gear shifting, brake application, and minor adjustments we're minimal. Combined with the relatively light weight, the gearing transferred work to efficient production. A great pleasure to ride.

I was just looking for a budget commuting bike, and this one did the trick. Assembly is somewhat tricky since the manual provided is not specific to this particular model - it was my first time assembling a bike and it took quite a bit of Youtube videos to get the job done. Particularly tricky was aligning the front disc brake apparatus properly such that there was no scraping/rubbing noises. I've already ridden it a few dozen miles and have had no issues that I haven't eventually found a DIY fix for.
