Gross little food trap
John Monnin•August 5, 2017
I bought this just to eat my lunches at work. My biggest complaint is that I can't clean food out of a little hole right near the head, unless I use a dishwasher. If I clean it in a sink there is a little food stuck near the head, see attached picture. I think the blade is plastic, or plastic coated steel
Surprisingly Nice

I ordered this more out of curiosity than anything else. Now it stays in my bag just in case I need an all purpose eating utensil. I am going to buy a couple more for camping and just to have around in general. To my surprise, the knife will actually cut steak! Don't let the plastic fool you. The knife is no joke...as long as you use it for its intended purpose. You won't be carving any wooden statues with it but you will not have a problem cutting into a nice juicy piece of meat.
Like the design but.....

While the design is really cool and the ability to use the knife and spork separately is definitely a plus please look at the picture. The spork is quite a bit smaller than the others pictured. The far left spoon is a German military surplus find (as part of a personal mess kit) and is almost too large to use as a personal spoon-its almost big enough to be a serving spoon. The red is by Humankind (from Office Depot I think), green is Light My Fire, Orange is Jetboil and the last is a Optimus MRE spoon. Speaking personally I would leave the Ka-bar at home and use one of the others as I always have a knife on me when hiking/camping.
Underwhelmed

I guess I went into this with my expectations too high, I assumed this would be the utensil to best all utensils. The outer shell and actual spork bit is made of a very nice plastic, no complaints there. The spork head is also pretty small but that's no issue at all, my issue is the knife bit. It's extremely underwhelming considering this is the most famous combat knife company. It's made out of plastic and is very dull. It couldn't even cut the plastic bag that the spork came in. I have little expectations on what it can do for actual food but I guess I'm going to have to rely on my hobo kit.
My second biggest complaint is that it doesn't come with a sheath or anyway to keep the spork head from getting dirty when traveling. The hobo kit came with a very nice pouch, and a sharp knife, and the thing was made in China.
For a product of the USA, I was expecting much more.
I'm still probably going to keep this just for the fun of it so I can say I have a KA-BAR spork

The Night of a Thousand MREs
JDP•September 29, 2016
There I was, camping in the back yard with my boys, getting ready to eat an MRE and make some coffee by the fire.......I quickly realized that the plastic around the MRE was thick......too thick for my arthritic hands to tear open. I knew that the situation was dire; my boys were looking up to me to feed them. What was I supposed to do? Tell them to go back inside the house and look in the refrigerator????? No, no, a thousand times NO!! I would not send my boys out in to the night to find the deck and back door to the house with naught but a flashlight, weak from hunger and weeping at the sight of their father's helpless attempts to open the chili mac MRE. But what could I do?? What could any man do????
Suddenly I remembered that my Ka-Bar Tactical Spork was in my back pack at my feet. With a gleam in my eye, crying "victory!!!!" I pulled out my utensil of badass-ness and removed the serrated knife from the fork-sheath......in no time, the MRE bag lay at my feet, a defeated and shamed foe, and I knew that on this night, deliciously pre-packaged preserved meals filled with enough sodium to make your eyes bleed would be consumed. My only regret was that I had no horn and mead with which to celebrate my achievement. Perhaps that will be my next purchase (if there is free shipping, of course.....)
Long live Ka-Bar.....................
